Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

So there's no way it can be as good as Best Picture Fury Road.

But does it look ok?

Looks like a bit more CGI than MM:FR. Ok, a lot more. I thought one of the things about MM:FR was the sparse use of CGI.

Still, this has my attention. I didn't recognize Hemsworth even after knowing it was him. And Anna is a great actress.

Saw it.

A worthy inclusion to the franchise.

Begins well before, and ends the morning of Fury Road.

It bombed over the weekend, but I hope it has legs. It's a really good movie.

I feel like everything has bombed in May.

Drinker agrees with Gordon and has some thoughts about audience apathy.

I think this is a case of the dog chasing its own tail. You want theatrical releases to do better, then stop streaming movies two weeks after they've left the theater.

Kid and I have a matinee bought for tomorrow.

Doing what we can to support the movie. We want a sequel.

Me and the kid watched it again, doing our part to get the numbers up.

Second time around, I was able to look at the cinematography more, since I wasn't riveted by the story.

There are a couple of absolutely brilliant technical film scenes. Hard to describe without being able to talk with my hands. But this: the initial ambush of the Citadel war rig as it leaves GasTown. There's a long, single cut, and sets a complex scene with a single, 30 second camera sweep. It was art.
