This is The Poseidon Adventure combined with a random monster movie.

The movie opens with Kristen Stewart brushing her teeth while we hear her voice narrating complete nonsense because it has zero context. Then 310 faceless/nameless people die in a matter of seconds and a survival movie begins. They're at the bottom of the ocean and must escape an impossibly ordered collapse of their station. Incredibly, 5 other people were working at the time and not in their quarters or the drill site. In a massive underwater drilling station that operated 24 hours a day...

Now the survivors are trying to reach another part of the station where there might be some escape pods. Here's the rest of the movie in one shot:

Image

That image is a good representation of 70% of the shots in this movie. (The only legit screenshots I could find of the film were either spoilers or of the few and far between scenes where they weren't in murky water.) Most of the movie you'll just be trying to make out what's actually happening on screen. Imagine the Jason Bourne shaky cam and tight shots and now add limited visibility. It's as shitty as it sounds.

Science and reality are way, way, way the fuck out the window too. The fact that they're at the bottom of the fucking ocean is the entire point of the film and key to many of the dangers they face, yet the realities of that situation are mostly ignored. I won't even get into the ridiculousness of the monster situation. By the end of the movie you'll be laughing at how absurd it has become.

Zero depth in the characters, terrible visuals, bad acting, no sense of scale/location, horrific science, and other sins make this a miss.

Watch The Abyss instead. It's far, far superior to this turd.

Not a good film, in almost every way.
