Trailer.
Pretty cool trailer, but it doesn't actually show any game play.

Is he to assume you're better at handjobs than you are at sanding walls?

I'll give you $10 for one.
Or pick a game on Steam at that price, and I'll gift it to you.

Well, I really want the BL2 DLC, and I figure if I make a few $ then I can justify it to myself. It sounds a little crazy, but I can't make myself pay $30 for it.
How about $5?

So I played through FarCry 3, and did just about everything there is to do, and I walked away with very mixed feelings.
The good:
-Beautiful
-Modern setting, weapons, vehicles, etc.
-The story starts off really well
-Animals
-The tattoo that tracks your skills
-Vaz (The main bad guy)
-The bad guy camps that you liberate
-The side missions where you kill a target are fun
The bad:
-When Vaz leaves the story halfway through the game...
-Side missions/activities are all completely pointless.
-Everyone you're there to save you see for very, very few cutscenes meaning very little emotional connection to the characters.
-The hero is stupid, especially when you consider who his brother is...
-The mystic portions of the story ALL suck
-The decision at the end
-Terrible boss fights
-Too many "Dragon's Lair" moments.
-Everything about Hoyt
Now the rest of this will have MAJOR spoilers, so if you want to end here, I give the game a 5 out of 10. Buy it for $5, but if you never play it, you're not missing much.
This game started off with a ton of promise and went directly downhill. I'm not sure how anyone gave this game a high score, but I can tell you that you now know not to trust those reviewers. It's not that this game sucks, it doesn't, but it's definitely not good.
I mostly blame the writers. The story simply SUCKS. The special forces guy isn't the hero, but his wimpy brother is? He's the one that learns to mow down an entire army all by himself just because he gets some tattoos? Uh...ok?
You invent an awesome, awesome villain named Vaz, and take him out of the story halfway through the game? One of the single worst writing moves I've ever seen. Meanwhile, you replace him with a guy who might as well be a stick figure. He has no depth at all. Instead of Hoyt, they should have called him "main villain" or "big boss". He's meaningless, and I have no desire to end his reign. Vaz, I was gunning for... Just terrible, terrible story telling.
Why include races, sniper and shotgun challenges, relics to find, tribal challenges, hunter missions, kill missions, etc. if none of them do ANYTHING for you in any way shape or form? Sure, you can get experience, but honestly, there's WAY too much money and XP to be found in this game. I don't want almost every weapon available to me almost immediately upon starting the game. I don't want to be ridiculously overloaded with cash throughout the entire game. I would spend thousands on guns and gun paint/customizations just to get rid of cash. The game just doesn't have any reward to playing it. The only missions that actually reward you are:
-Radio towers, which are essentially just mini Mario-like jumping puzzles, because they make the map visible.
-Liberating camps because they eliminate enemy spawns and give you new teleport spots. (And why ever drive, walk, swim, or use hanggliders when you can instantly teleport everywhere?
-Story missions because it drives the story forward. And there are surprisingly few of these.
If I were writing/designing the game, here's what I would have done:
-Dump the mumbo jumbo mystic bullshit by having their evil intentions come out at the story's halfway point. They were simply drugging Jason, and working with Vaz. Eliminate that shit.
-Have a mission where Jason has to rush to the doctor's to fight off an invasion by Citra's men.
-Have Vas kill Hoyt around the midway point. He's the true star of this story. Why do I care about hunting down the guy who employs Vaz? He didn't kill my brother. So he has the other one, you give the player the moment to break him free, but for some reason, you don't? Stupid. The whole second half of the game was forced. Vas killing Hoyt makes Vas an even better villain, and extends your hunt for the man who killed your brother.
-Remove every single loot chest in the game. They were pointless and redundant on top of redundant on top of redundant.
-Make weapons less available.
-Remove fast travel except for one per quadrant (break the map into four quadrants).
-Remove every single side mission, but keep the challenges, races, hunting/killing missions. Make the ones we keep tie into rewards. Won all races? Your cars gain more sustain or you can fix them easier or whatever. Win all gun challenges? You get the "best" weapon in that category.
-Instead of opening all items right away, open the whole map instead. Allow players to go anywhere, and cheat to prevent them access until you want them to be there. Cheat by making enemies there too numerous, smart, tough, etc.
-Limited parts of the map players can liberate. The final mission was a wild ride through the map and the enemy was everywhere. The problem is that I liberated the entire map at that point. Where the hell were my allies? Prior to starting the mission, they were everywhere. Were they all on a coffee break?
Far Cry 3 is disappointing. Sooooo much potential hampered by stupid design decisions and a terrible plot.
Seriously, who kills the villain in Act 2?
