I don't know what it is, but it seems like a half-ass measure.

I think that's the point. Keep most people working, so the union doesn't have to pay them, but have just enough of a strike to cause pain. If I were them, I'd target whatever product from each company has the best margin (F150? Jeeps? I dunno)

The UAW on Friday struck at just three plants, one at each of the Big Three automakers. None of the plants is particularly crucial to the automakers’ operations, surprising industry insiders – even experts who predicted the UAW would implement a targeted strike.

The economy, hell the fabric of society, can never be fixed while shit like this goes on: I don't know what the solution is, but I know it isn't socialism.

We need to sever the direct link to Wall St, and alter C Suite pay so that it meets criteria that isn't just self serving. Maybe some algorithm involving # of employees, their pay, their benefits, how they help communities, etc. No idea.

They are expanding the strike.

That didn't take long.

Although, they were complimentary of Ford's efforts.

I've been noticing the advertised starting rates for local fast food workers is down to $13 per hour.

$14.50 still in my little burg.

Way down from the $22 offered during Covid.

Unions have been shifting right politically.

I truly think that is directly related to social issues.

Your average auto/steel/road/etc. worker isn't down with men getting pregnant, you're a bigot if you don't date chicks with dicks, elementary school children should have access to books showing them how to give BJs, and so on. Plus, the Ds are at the forefront of the "anti-white" movement.

Not to mention that I'd bet you anything that union members oppose Open Borders and still remember NAFTA (I have lots of union members in my family and I still hear about that shit here in 2024.).

All of these policies and issues being pushed by colleges full of people who truly think tradesmen (and women) are lesser.

Within the past decade, I believe it was the UAW, who had sort of a civil war due to many of their members revolting over their dues being used to push D candidates that they felt no longer related to them or something.

The other day on reddit someone said Biden was a huge friend of the unions, and someone pointed out he busted the railroad strike just last year, and the DNC PR Swarm jumped on that person, calling him a MAGA, and stating that "Biden only put the railroad people back to work without a contract because then he helped them get a better contract later."

So.

Apparently the actual union people don't see it that way *puts hardhat on backwards*.

Republicans flat out hate unions, so it's not like there's an alternative.

You're not wrong.

Rs are as stupid about unions as Ds are on the border.
