I guess this is the new reality: "We didn't win, so you cheated."
The world is getting stupider.

There's a vote today that might prevent Brexit from ever happening.

Isn't this a complete failure by government? Agree with Brexit or not, but the voters spoke. Their government is failing them by not following through with the voter's wishes. Shouldn't everyone in the government step down?

That's the general position of the left. Here they call us and argue for a democracy, even though we aren't and the word isn't anywhere in our founding documents. But when the will of the people isn't what they want (as evidenced by all the traditional marriage laws and changes to state constitutions via referendum) they go running to the courts.

If they shit on the people's vote, they'll be very glad they don't have a 2nd amendment.

It's always sort.of refreshing when it's MADE CLEAR that your.vote doesn't matter. We can all stop pretending for a few minutes.

Just for the record I have a dollar that says the brexit panic is way overblown, and there won't be any serious disruptions over it.

I'm starting to wonder if the ruling class will ever allow this to happen. Great case study on why our founders decided the people should remain armed.

This.

It doesn't matter that the vote won by just over half the population and the other side has been very vocal and bitter about losing. What matters is the people spoke in a democracy, and to date, their vote hasn't mattered. That's a problem.

I realize people will point to the logistics and whatnot, and that's fine. However, those parties trying to prevent Brexit should be removed from power as they are directly preventing the people's vote from mattering.

Same thing here if electorates ignore their constituents.

"Yeah but the people didn't know what they were voting for." Is a thing I've heard.

I've heard that too, and it's possible they're right. When people in Ohio voted for legalized gambling many were too stupid to really look into what they passed. Thus, they were surprised when they were told later that only one group could build casinos and only at designated addresses.

That being said, such sentiment is also elitism. People on the losing side thinking they are intellectually and/or morally superior to people on the other side. (See: The cast of Will and Grace.)

At least they learned their lesson when the exact same trick was pulled with legalizing marijuana.

Forgot about that. This is true. Voters actually got a clue and shit on a very one sided pot legalization bill.

Hard to imagine why anyone wouldn't want to be part of this esteemed union!

What am I missing about this ruling because the people of the EU should be taking to the streets, and I'm not hearing that they are...
