(edit - Even without talking about spoilers, it is hard to discuss the show without discussing plot points. Read at your own risk.)

Really? No thread?

It's on HBO, it premeired last night. Watch it, for the love of god.

It's been renewed for a second season.

Incidentally, what the hell is it about? I've seen exactly NOTHING about it.

It's a very good series of fantasy novels(4 so far), set in something similar to the "War of the Roses" period. I sometimes think of it has fantasy for people who hate how cheesy fantasy can get sometimes.

Very adult, very violent. Great characters, and each of the 4 books written so far are absolute page turners, when you get into the good parts, it is almost impossible to put down.

They spent 50 million on the first season, and kept very very true to the book storyline.

If you don't like the first episode, I would be very surprised.

Also, I had to TPB the first ep as well. Why isn't it on iTunes?

"War of the Roses"

I loved that movie. Michael Douglas was great in it.

What is TPB?

The Pirate Bay

That cartoon is both hilarious and true. If HBO would let me buy the season upfront somehow, or fuck IF ANYONE WOULD LET ME PAY THEM FOR THIS, I would.

I would even buy HBO by itself if I didn't have to buy cable to do it.

Quit your bitching! HBO has given you the game of thrones itunes app that has all sorts of cool wallpaper and you can download commercials for the show and a 15min behind the scenes.

I mean you are getting wallpapers. Some people are never satisfied.

This makes me wonder if HBO is going to be the next Blockbuster, completely in love with the business model that has served them for a couple decades and ignoring emerging market trends.

People are dumping cable and going streaming-only. HBO better not ignore the internet the way Blockbuster did.

Second episode was a lot of plot development and more polarization of characters, very good overall. They left out and changed a few things to keep it from bogging down too much, but it made sense from a filming perspective.

Peter D was born to play Tyrion. He owns every scene that he is in, unbelievable actor.

Still going strong, inching up in ratings too, which is always a good sign.

Episode 4 was a lot of plot development which will lead to Episode 5+6 being crazy. (Things kick off big time)

Watched Episode 1 last night. Intense.

My wife didn't care for the fact that pretty much every female character is "oppressed"

Fair # of boobies. Fair # of beheadings.

So far, good.

Episodes 5-6 seems to be the point where "lots of backstory" ends and real shit kicks off. So awesome.

I'm up to episode four and enjoying it quite a bit. Lots of potential here.

Although I don't like very many of the characters. So far my favorite is definitely Tyrion Lannister. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a bad guy.

Episodes 2 through 4 got a bit slow, episode 5 definitely kicks it back up a notch.

Tyrion is certainly the most entertaining.
