You're not wrong. Look at how much they're playing up this mall shooter's "right wing extremist" links. It's the headline on CNN.com and has been since last night. Not the shooting, the possible right wing link. (Also the headline on Yahoo.)

Facts:
-Most mass shootings are done with handguns.
-Most mass shootings are committed by minorities.

However, that doesn't get clicks or fit "the narrative".

Mauricio Garcia, the suspect in the Allen, Texas, mall shooting, served for a brief period in the US military but was removed due to concerns about his mental health, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation tells CNN.

The source could not specify the branch Garcia served in or the time period.

So why was he allowed to purchase weapons (IF he got them legally)?

If the U.S. military thinks you're mentally unfit to be around weapons, then that should apply to civilian life too.

Doyle, 58, was arrested Sunday, May 7, after the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said he opened fire on a group of kids playing on his property and “unknowingly hit the girl.” Deputies were called about a shooting at a home in Starks early that morning, authorities wrote in a news release. They arrived to find a teen who was shot in the back of the head.

Kid shot, guy arrested. Tragedy, but seems resolved. Not sure why you posted this? Did the guy have a history of mental illness or a criminal record that should have flagged him to not own a gun?

"Kids playing hide and seek" could also be "Kids who fuck with old crazy guy all the time fuck with him one too many times".

Not saying he should shoot them, just saying they may not be as innocent as the media wants them to be. They also took a long time to let us know she had non-life threatening injuries. "Lets hope people don't read this far and just run with the assumption that he killed her."

The guy should NOT have been shooting at kids. But I feel like the media is spinning this to be different than it really was.
