Which is better for The Party??????
Congress has the ability to change it. They'd say "Sure, resign first, then we'll talk"

He cannot delay the election, but apparently Congress can.

I've been saying that if the Rs really want to win the election, they need to have Trump drop out. Biden will not beat Pence. Pence has his baggage, yes, but Biden would lose ALL of the "never Trump" votes, and I genuinely think that's the only thing Biden has going for him.

With Trump gone the Rs could absolutely hammer Biden's mental health, his kid's job in the Ukraine, and the sexual assault allegations against him.

Pence has zero excitement factor. All the Trump lovers would just have to masturbate to David Duke. :)

Biden would have zero chance against anyone except Trump. And I personally still think the polls are meaningless and Trump is going to win again.

I just know that I'm probably voting for Jergenson (sp?), although my wife and I discussed writing each other's names in just so they're recorded history. :D

Call it a "cop out". Call it "throwing away your vote".

I know that I'll be able to look in the mirror the next day and know I cast the correct vote based on research and the candidates presented.

If everyone had 'Tegrity, intelligence, and a spine they'd all vote for a third party and end this two party stranglehold.

Well, shit, no they can't.

I don't see it as a cop out. Even though Leisher has no experience and is an OSU fan, I still think he'd make a better president than Biden or Trump. Why is voting for who I think is the best choice a cop out?

That being said, I also think my dog that can't seem to stop trying to eat the deer poop in our yard would make a better president than Trump or Biden.

BOOM! That's 2 votes for me! Where do I file paperwork to join the debates?

You must love her immigration stance.

At this rate, my models predict you'll either have 2; 2,280; or 2x2.1568E+68 votes by the election.

Cuz there are really only two choices that matter. Anything else is irrelevant. Same as 4 years ago, and 4 years before that, and 4 years before that...

I think I just need 1 to beat the number of presidential votes you've gotten.

All kinds of impossibilities existed until someone proved they weren't impossible.

The system is in place, codified by law, that only 2 parties have a real chance.

You will.vote for whichever two candidates the parties allow you to.vote.for.

Democracy.

Only because you believe that. I felt good about my vote last year. I voted for more options instead of the two pieces of shit everyone else voted for. Now if everyone else would just grow a pair of cast the vote they really want to, things could change. But everyone is like "I don't want them to win, so I'll vote for this piece of shit so their piece of shit doesn't win". That's not a broken system. That's fucking worthless voters.

This is genuinely the problem with our politics and capitalism. Our leaders and us, if we're being honest, have effectively broken both so the voter/consumer doesn't have the power they should have.
Cakedaddy wrote: So now she's just pandering. Fucking politicians.
I think she's just changed the language. She's still for making immigration easier, but has removed the "open borders" phrasing.

It's been this way with or without me believing it. Like Gordon said, our system is very much setup for it.

I guess I don't know enough about 'the system' to argue differently. But to me, our voting system allows for more than two choices. But the voters have accepted having only two choices.

It IS only your belief that's keeping it this way. There IS a third (fourth, fifth) option. You just CHOOSE not use exercise it because you believe it won't matter. If everyone who wanted a third option actually voted that third option, how different would the numbers look? People are pussies and sheep. Continuing to complain about a 'fucked up system' but also continuing to not do the one simple thing that would change it. Pick the third fucking option!

There are laws about letting so-called "3rd party" candidates into the public debate, not to mention getting on the ballot at all. The 2 main parties set up the laws this way, in order to retain power. You can vote for whomever you want, but they don't get network debate airtime, government funds, or on the ballots, without serious effort.

Then, the media, owned by the two parties, are going to bias your candidate into the bedrock. No one else has a real chance, in the current system. I've been saying it for 20 years, now.... nothing is going to change without blood.

Personally, I voted for the 3rd party last time, hoping he would get 5% of the vote, which means the government would take that party slightly more seriously, next time around. I think they got about 3% of the vote.

Well, I know I voted for a third party option last year, so the laws aren't stopping it.

The debates are controlled by the media, aren't they? And I understand that bias. But that's not a system thing. That's the sheep letting their shepherds tell them what to believe.

The part about the system that is broken, to me, is that it lets everyone vote. There should be a test before each vote. Test the voter's knowledge on the candidates, issues, etc. If you can't accurately answer some basic questions about a topic, you shouldn't be allowed to vote. "You are too ignorant on this topic. You have no idea who or what you are voting for. Your vote is as meaningful as a flipped coin. You are not allowed to vote.". THAT is the problem with our system. SOOOOOOOOOOO many votes cast in ignorance that the people who actually know what's going on can't be heard.

Hell, I'd even go with one of those polls that Catt keeps posting. A series of questions about various issues. How do you feel about this? How do you feel about that? Based on your answers, you voted for Person A.
