Valve has confirmed that the HWG is the next to get upgrades. This picture may or may not be real:

That picture is probably fake.

I found the TF2 Developer's Blog, and they're asking for player input on upgrading the heavy. How does one upgrade the tank without making it too powerful?

Good matches last night on FNF.

One thing I love about this game is how teamwork is critical. If your team is a bunch of individuals and they all aren't working together, you've lost before things even get started. Gordon and I got our asses kicked a few times last night as our team wasn't working together well.

Another thing that helps is the reshuffling of players during map changes. I started off the night on a good team, starting getting dominated in the middle of the evening, and was back to winning before I went to bed.

Gordo and I both got some props last night from our teammates too. Gordo got praised for both his player name and his willingness to walk his heavy into fray. I got an "atta boy" or two in the games when Gordon and I were on the same side, but my best moment came later.

We were in the Well, I was on blue and Gordon was on red. (And where the hell were you? I assume playing sniper or Engie because I never saw you on that map.) Red was being ultra aggressive and our team had some scrubs, thus we were in trouble. I was playing a pyro, as usual, and had to fall back to the intelligence as red team was picking it up at will. Thus, I sat in the intelligence room providing protection to my engineers as they were setting up sentries. During a lull after an attack that wiped out both sentries, a red engineer came running into the room on the second level. He parked in the corner partially behind the pillar, while I was standing right in front of the intelligence in the middle of the room. He's far enough away that his body is visibly smaller due to the distortion from the distance. He started to shoot my engie, who screamed out "Leisher I need you to deal with that." I immediately switched to my flare gun, turned slightly without taking a step, and fired a flare (these drop significantly the farther they travel, so touch is required) right into this engineer's noggin dropping him. Understand, this whole series of events occurred in 3-4 seconds. Not the most hectic mind boggling action, but pretty cool in a old school gunslinger kind of way. My engineer went apeshit over his mic talking about the shot and how I was dominating there (I had just killed the 3 previous attackers, a scout, pyro, and spy).

The best part? As soon as he got done praising me a heavy, a demo, a scout, and a spy walked in, blew up his turret, and killed us both without taking any losses.

I fucking love this game.

Gordo, we need to get our mics working. Even if we were just talking to one another, it'd be a huge help. A few maps I wanted to tell you exactly what I was planning before you ubered me, but had no time to type it.

I pity the fools who aren't playing this game.

I was an engie and built a turret in our flag room.... it ended up being a boring map, for me.

Just got word that the wife and kid are going to her mom's tonight for a visit. (Yippie!)

I'm going to work out, eat, then jump on TF2. I should be on around 7ish, maybe a bit earlier or later.

Gordo, if you have time, message me around then and let's test mics on your server.

Well, voice is pretty simple.

Did you see what happened when you got booted last night?

Well, it sucked, but I can't really argue it since it's exactly what we'd do on our server.

Essentially, the admin booted you so that another FNF person could get on the server. It is their server, so they have the right to do such things, particularly if their members are paying. I've seen servers that offer guaranteed spots for cash.

Anyway, I thought you got booted because you were the lowest scoring peep on the server at that moment. That'd be the logical slot to open up for a server member. But maybe it had something to do with you getting up to pee? Maybe they saw you standing there and called your name without response. Who knows?

As for the games, playing with Peanut and Lag was fun, but would've been better with more peeps. Too bad all the other dtmaners suck or we might've been able to get a crowd on that server. I did get friended by them though, so if we ever get them, us, and Cake on, I'd need 3 more people for the "Friends like these..." achievement.

On FNF, people were complaining about unbalanced teams initially (don't forget there's a mod out there for server admins that'll automatically shuffle the teams to correct balance issues), but I'm not sure that was the issue. We were holding our own somewhat, but there was no chatter, no teamwork.

Overall though, I had a shitty night on FNF. It seemed like I was constantly in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fucking Sychad was always there with a healer every time I turned a corner. I was pondering switching classes, but I figured some nights the pyro just sucks.

Yes, that was the worse night on FNF I've ever seen. New peeps with russian symbols in their names, and one team just consistently steamrolling over the other.

And I don't really care about getting booted. I was about burnt anyway.

Lots of familiar faces there too: SirPsycho, Sychad, Gidsabi, Tactical_Nuke, the FNF guys, the [K][R]member, etc.

I noticed a LOT more getting on as it got later in the evening.

But you're right, early on there were some different players, particularly three from a guild I hadn't seen before. They must've been on their own chat because they always seemed to be together when they got on the same team.

By the way, that freezecam achievement for the pyro is simple. Simply kill someone, then do a taunt. You have to do a taunt per weapon, but don't have to kill them with said weapon.

I think the worst achievement is going to be the OMGWTFLOL or whatever it's called. Basically, you have to kill your opponent with a taunt. I assume it's the taunt you do when equipping your shotgun or flare gun as it's like a fireball. We might need to cheat that one. Although, hitting it on a popular server might get some laughs.

You need to knock some of those achievements out so you can get the upgraded weapons, particularly the flare gun. I know you like the flare gun because you kept catching all my flares.

I was wondering what the hell that piece of shit was.

It made my sniper useless because being on fire screwed up his aim.

Now you know why my shooting of the engineer story is so good. It was a great shot.

The flare gun represents one of the great things about balance in this game. I can use it or the shotgun. With it, I have range. I can kill with it and really annoy. I can weaken threats before they get into my range. However, it takes a lot of shots to take someone down where the shotgun is a much better medium range alternative for quick kills.

Also, ever notice how some flamethrowers hurt more? The upgraded one does 100% criticals when you attack someone from behind, BUT the trade off is that you lose the compressed air blast. Sounds like nothing, but the compressed air blast is one of the best tools a pyro has as it deflects bombs, rockets, and can nullify a uber.

Just wanted to say that Cakedaddy is some kind of slack-jawed faggot for talking up this game and then never joining us in it.

I'm just giving you a chance to catch up.

I'll have time this weekend, and maybe even tonight.

If I see you out there, I'll join you. If you see me out there, let me know you are on and I'll follow you to the servers you are playing on.

And I, and the people I normally play with, like to play all on the same team. It's more fun for us that way. Might claim that we are stacking the teams. But since none of us are superstars. . . it would be easier to show that we are unstacking our team. But anyway, just saying that we will be pushing to be on the same team.

The unwritten rule Leisher and I have had has been whoever is on first, just join him. Unless the server is just packed and no one is quitting and we can't get in.

Also, this is a great time for me to fuck with Cakedaddy.... back when I said I found a Quake Wars server with some funny-ass people, he fucked with me about "making friends," or whatever. Now he is talking about how he and his new buttfuck buddies all like to be on the same team. Awwww, isn't that sweet.

Just FYI Cake, as I don't know how much of this chain you've read, Gordo and I play a lot of a server called "FNF TF2". It's a pretty damn good server with low ping, a good map rotation, and a bunch of good players that are regulars there. The problem with that server is that it gets packed.

If you are ever looking for us, we're usually there.

House of Pies is another one that I've had some luck with, but I think it might only get action on weekends.

Although, depending on how many people you can bring, maybe we hit the dtman server? Gordo and I had three folks join us one night this week, but nobody else jumped on in an hour or so of playing. With bigger numbers, we might get more folks. (On a side note, of those three, one was a decent player and nice person, another was a nice person but had massive lag, and the third was only there long enough to get killed by my pyro.)

Also, I'd tease Cake about making buddies, but I friended Peanut and Lag Commander the other night and have been pondering doing the same for several folks on the FNF server. (I'm not going to earn some of those achievements without more Steam friends and I don't see any other dtmaners jumping on to play with us.)

I'll search for the FNF server if I beat you guys on.

As far as my 'friends'. These are all people I'm related to in one way or another, and we all decided to buy the game to play. They aren't strangers I picked up on a Quake chat board or something.

When we all play, it's a total of 5 of us. So it will probably be a tight fit on an established server.
