Saw a game I was looking forward to went on Early Release. Warhammer:Vermintide
Trying it out this weekend. Really fun so far, 4 man co-op and a mix of L4D-Chivalry-Diablo. It's really hard, I still have yet to get grouped with a team that has finished the 3 pre-release levels without getting wiped. Haven't found any loot yet either. Classes are Dwarf, Elf, Witchhunter, Soldier and Fire Mage.
Mostly going Witchhunter so far, who seems to be good at picking off special enemies and also dying.

Finally grouped with at team that had their shit together. We rolled through the first level and collected all the extra loot. I got a bunch of chances to get something good and pulled a rare crossbow out of the deal. reloads 50% faster.

I got to play some more Verminitide last night - wife's bro is in town and has been using my study so gaming time is sparse until he leaves.
I tried the new Steam streaming option to show Cake and Stranger a mission. Even though I died at the very end and didn't get any loot I think they they thought it looked interesting. Cake said the streaming option was really high quality.
I'd best describe it as steampunk L4D with diablo loot elements. Little borderlands in the weapon customization too I think.

I purchased 19 games during the Halloween sale for $8 and change.

Did I miss the fall sale?

It was a minor one over Halloween weekend.
No events or activities and I believe only "spooky" titles were on sale.
GTA V counted because they were running Halloween events in their online content.

Microtransactions are going to get worse.
This is not good, although if you look at it from the TKV perspective it's kind of awesome. Wars of attrition take on a whole new meaning when you're taking their real money away from them.

Eh - Rust is a bad example of "bad" micro-transactions.
It's not like you pay 3 dollars for a special red gun and suddenly you get it and own all the other naked who only have rocks.
In the red gun example, you have to first find the regular gun blueprint the red gun is based on, and then you have to craft the damn thing, and on crafting you get an option for it to be a red gun. And now you have a red gun that stands out like crazy and gets you even more killed than usual - and it's not any better than the regular version of the gun.
It lets people be really creative with model shading, which is kind of neat. I honestly really like the system, though I haven't bought any. Have seen a few people with "W33dlord420" and similar shirts, which makes me chuckle.

Good news for my wallet. I get to keep my money this year.

I think the new method is a major fail.
For the first time in years, a Steam sale took place and I bought nothing.
Or perhaps it's because I know there's another one coming in a few weeks.
Two notes though:
1. Thank you Malcolm for voting "wait" on GTA V. It was marked down even more this sale than the one prior. I expect it to be the same at X-Mas.
2. Hitting the "Under $5" tab for me results in the first pages of games saying "In Library"... I imagine TPR's is probably similar.

I ended up spending about $70, half of what they usually get out of me. Not all that many titles on my wishlist hit the 75% off mark that triggers me to buy this time around.

You can now delete items from your library permanently.
Let's be honest, this is for the laziest of people who can't make a fucking list.
And you just know some dumbasses are going to delete a game and then re-buy it not realizing they had previously owned it.

There are lists?

I'll use it.
Sure I have a list called "zzz Never Play These Again Ever!" but I'd just as soon delete them entirely.

Let me know when you end up buying a game you deleted. You KNOW it's going to happen!
that's why I won't delete them. I'd rather have them listed as "In Your Library".

No it won't. There aren't many on that "wish I could delete list" and they're all of the "I'd rather shove bamboo under my fingernails than play that game again" variety. The only way I'd buy them again is if I forgot how awful they are, but they are all so bad that this is not a thing that will happen.
