I heard he was up for the UNC OC job, but he was DQed for never having coached the Browns.

College basketball is a mess.

Let's be honest, the NCAA is a dumpster fire. They have no idea what they're doing and how to navigate this new era. This is going to end up being a Congressional issue, which ironically puts everything in the hands of people even less qualified than the NCAA.

Well poop.

I had a sneaking hunch. I didn't like the 0-4 for bye teams last year. It was clear they were cold as hell in the first half. They got rolling in the second, but it was too late. Too many off the field distractions and the long layoff. Oh well. They return a lot of people next year.

Can't win every year.

My condolences. Especially to Stranger. I cringed when I read his bet. I know I don't have the same faith in Day as OSU fans do, but I felt like his post season record was too weak to overcome the spread. I've said before (I think), he chokes in the big games. I think this year, the players wanted to beat Michigan enough that they played really well. But when they need him to lead them to victory, he's just not capable. I feel like your players win in spite of Day. I think he's a good teacher (your guys know how to play), he just can't lead them under pressure.

Could he be Tomlining? Did he win the Championship with an inherited team/staff? Good season but can't finish?

Mind you, im not trash talking. I have no room to be doing that.

I totally understand your criticism, but it's not completely accurate.

He has a winning record against ranked teams, and one of the highest winning percentages ever. Even better if you take out three years of cheating... Seriously, those three years dramatically hurt his overall record, and cost OSU a Heisman (CJ Stroud) and chances at a title.

However, when he's calling plays, OSU suffers. It's too much for any coach not named Andy Reed. Day does much better as the game manager, and hires excellent staff, which is proven every year when he's constantly having to replace people. The NCAA really needs to think about ending the portal and recruiting windows, maybe even a hiring/firing freeze, from the last day of the regular season until the end of the playoffs. If you want the best product on the field, that's the only way to ensure players and coaches are locked in.

Day is a great recruiter, a good leader, and a better human. He'll never be Saban or Meyer, but OSU can absolutely win more titles under him.

And yes, last year's team was completely his team. Ditto for all the staff. There's only 1 or 2 coaches still there from Meyer, and in college there's like 20-30 coaches.

The team just wasn't ready. You could tell with the physicality of Miami against the line in the first half versus the second half. THAT I'll put on Day, but Hartline leaving hurt the team and that's the Day's fault, it's actually a credit to him and the job he's doing.

He gets a few years for winning the title last year, and imho, shouldn't have the cheating years count against him. But we'll see where things go from here. They just got the #1 recruit in next year's class, and I'll be very curious to see who he hires to run the offense.

I didn't know it was last year that you won. I thought it was a while ago.

I'll agree to disagree with all of that and not be upset if he stays put. :-)

Guess OSU is the only embarrassment in the B10?

Most importantly, fuck Bama.

I didn't watch a second of anything after OSU lost, and found out only last night who advanced. Indiana will win it all. Oregon has a chance to beat them, but with OSU out, the championship game will be a blowout.

Teams that earn byes are now 1-7. I was told there's a lot of talk after this week that they're going to change things again seeing that bye teams are actually at a disadvantage.

1-4 seeds should get a home game

Agree, but will that be enough to offset the rust? That was the real issue for OSU and many of the other teams that got byes.

After they knocked the rust off, Miami only scored 3 points. Hell, their O only scored 10 points the whole game.

I think a home crowd wakes people up.

Why not just add 4 more teams and eliminate byes altogether?

I'm all for players getting paid, but the notion that players are "re-signing" with their current college team is dumb.

Definitely helps, but it takes a minute to get used to real contact again.

Honestly, not a bad idea. Let the top seeds play JMU and their ilk.

Took team to the national championship game in 2024. Then boycotted the bowls in 2025.
