Speak the language of your audience, unlike what the NFL is doing right now.

Also, making a political statement against the making of political statements is Wonder-Woman-Levels of retarded.
I understood it as: We're removing ourselves from this situation in order to focus on, you know, FOOTBALL.

Here come the racists! Yay! Good job, Trump.

Wouldn't the best way to avoid sending a mixed message be to just take the field and stand for.the anthem?

This smells like bullshit damage control.

Wow. It always amazes me how people can say or type something like that and think there won't be consequences.

On a totally unrelated, yet related note, I personally think the "that's our word" mentality needs to go bye bye. It's either everyone can say it or nobody can. It's bullshit to market it to white America in movies and music and then tell them they can't say it. I mean, don't put it in such catchy songs if you don't want me to say it.

Example that is obviously going to be very NSFW due to language:

Well here's the thing about that... It doesn't sell papers or get clicks. The Browns walked out in unity with cops, military, fire fighters, etc. the first week of the season INSTEAD of taking a knee, which they had done the week prior. Everyone LOVED it, you know, except for the MSM who barely covered it.

Unity isn't good for business. Not for selling papers. Not for getting you to watch a show. And certainly not for distracting you while your government corn holes you.

If only Fox News had covered it, then Trump would have thought all the teams were doing it.

1. I actually agree with them that some cops need to be dialed back from their "the public is the enemy" stance.

2. I don't care at all about football.

3. If a bunch of rich people want to complain about the country which gave them the opportunity to be rich, then bless their hearts. They certainly picked the correct venue... football fans are well known to be sensitive, compassionate liberals.

4. Tired of the divisive bullshit, and I am tired of seeing it cut/pasted all over my facebook wall. It's just "too important" to click "Share," everyone feels they make a bigger "impact" posting it on their own. It's just embarrassing.

Is he on record as saying that's the only place he gets his news? Seriously?

I'm not sure what's worse, Trump getting his news from Fox or Obama saying "this is the first I've heard of this" when questioned about almost every scandal during his run.

I don't know that he has ever explicitly stated it, but his tweets have been a solid lag on Fox news stories. Fox runs something, he tweets it that night.

Fox news says there has been a lot of booing that they aren't showing on TV.

Then it must be true, and will definitely be tweeted.

From a conversation I had last night with someone who watches a LOT of Fox News (and considers themselves a Constitutionalist):

Him - "Their ratings are WAY down."
Me - "Actually, ratings were up this weekend."
Him - "Bullshit, everything I see says they're down."
Me - "No, on The Herd today he was specifically talking about how after the Cowboys game ratings are up."
(Side note: While overall ratings are down 10% from historical measures, this weekend ratings were up 3% over the same week last year.)
Him - "Yeah, that's ESPN! (And then he rambled off some insulting acronym about ESPN that was clearly learned from Fox.)
Me - "No, Cowherd is not ESPN."
Him - "Yes, he is!"
Me - "Actually, he's been with Fox for about three years now."
Him - "Steelers fans all burned their stuff!"
Me - "A few fans did, yes."
(Side note: A few fans did and very stupidly, especially once the truth came out about why the Steelers stayed in the locker room and why Villanueva was standing alone. Not to mention that they've already said they'll all be standing next week. I'm betting those ignorant fans are regretting their choice.)
Him - (Showing visible disagreement and talking more and more aggressively. ) "No, not just a few. That's why it's the No Fans Left league."
Me - "Yeah, the NFL will be fine."
Him - "No, this is going to hurt them massively."
Me - "No, they're the biggest professional sports league in the world. This is just a slight bump in the road."

Here's one of my crazy right wing uncles on FB:
Where's all the videos of NFL football fans destroying their fan items??
Everyone of you that DON'T are no better than the players that show disrespect for MY flag and country.
YOU disgust me!!!
He then went on to post 4-5 videos of fans from different teams burning their gear. All are either over or near retirement age. Not that it matters, but it's an interesting observation.

Eric Reid of the 49ers thinks Kaep's original message has been lost.

Understatement of the year. Although, if we're being honest, Kaep didn't even know what his protest was or was about when it started. I don't think his girlfriend gave him the details.

In ACTUAL fantasy news, I made my first trade yesterday. I sent Alex Smith (#2 ranked QB) and Marshawn Lynch to another team for Chris Hogan and Frank Gore. I have Brees as my starter, so I was ok on the QB front, he wasn't. I needed a RB as Lynch was a starter for me and the #31 RB in the league. Gore is #17 without Luck and I expect that will improve when Luck returns. Getting Chris Hogan was a bonus for me as my third WR was ranked in the 20s and Hogan is ranked #7.

This woman who used to have sex with a veteran says they are fucking fucked up.

“Your desire to focus on division and anger has shattered what many people loved most about the sport,” she wrote. “Football was really a metaphor for our ideal world — different backgrounds, talents, political beliefs and histories as one big team with one big goal — to do well, to win, TOGETHER.”

"But you fucked it all up and now people think you are spoiled fucking babies."
I may have exaggerated some of that.

"Who would have thought that in the midst of our country getting a divorce, the liberals would get the NFL."

Let's not help them load the moving vans just yet.

Before Trump's tweet maybe a dozen players were taking a knee. Let's wait until after this weekend to see how many take knees. If Thursday was any indication, we may be back to that dozen or so.

I don't watch Fox, but I know I heard the audio from the Patriots game and you could hear it. Also with the Dallas game. I don't think it's nefarious for them not to show it. I don't think it's bad business to not show people that are expressing disapproval of your brand.

I think within a couple of weeks it'll be the handful of players left that are kneeling that they won't be showing.
