Back to the actual sports...
In the dominant 27-10 victory, the Redskins gained 472 yards on the night, while Oakland mustered a pathetic 128. Thirty-three of those yards came on the Raiders' final drive, with Washington firmly entrenched in prevent defense.
I watched the game up to 21-0. So many anomalies yesterday, and maybe this was just one more. But it sure was fun to watch my team exceed expectations for once.

One Steeler refused to stay in the locker room during the anthem yesterday.
A former Army Ranger who earned a Bronze Star and served three tours in Afghanistan, Villanueva was the only Steelers player who came outside the tunnel during Sunday's national anthem, after the team collectively decided not to be on the sideline during the song.
He now has the top selling merchandise in the NFL.

Not bad for an offensive lineman.

Oh, and how did his coach respond?
His actions weren't supported by all, including his own coach. Asked after the Steelers' 23-17 loss to the Chicago Bears what he thought of Villanueva's positioning for the anthem, Mike Tomlin responded, "I was looking for 100 percent participation. We were gonna be respectful of our football team."
Fuck you Mike Tomlin.

I just ordered my "Fire Tomlin" shirt, which I will wear when I attend the Steelers-Jaguars game this year.

...Tomlin still has twice as many wins THIS YEAR as Hue Jackson does in his first 19 games, I'm just saying...

But yeah, fuck Tomlin!

And good for Villanueva, by far my favorite Steeler ever!

LeBron weighs in on NFL anthem controversy.
"The thing that frustrated me, pissed me off: He was using the sports platform to divide us. Sports is so amazing, what sports can do for everyone, no matter shape, size, race. It brings people together like no other. I'm not going to let one individual, no matter the power, the impact he should have, ever use sport as a platform to divide us."
Here's my problem with that statement, Kaep's original protest and the continuing protest is dividing people. It's an ill advised protest that isn't sparking unity and conversation, but rather, offending people and making them tune out. This wasn't a well thought out plan of action.

Yesterday was a different animal because it was people reacting to Trump, not necessarily supporting the original protest.

My point being is that I agree with LeBron that sports isn't a place for politics and to divide people, but I think he's mistaken to only look through his prism.

If we swapped coaches straight up, Tomlin would be 0-3 and Jackson would be 2-1 or 3-0. Probably 3-0.

ESPN is giving the Cardinals a 70% chance to win tonight's game, with 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter, and up 7-0. That feels... outsized.

The Dallas Cowboys joined most of the NFL by showing a display of team unity ahead of Monday night's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cowboys, along with owner Jerry Jones and front-office staff, took a knee while linking arms prior to the anthem at midfield and then stood together while singer Jordin Sparks performed the song.
I'll be honest. At face value, I have no idea what statement the Cowboys are making.

Villanueva is everything good in this country.

His scumbag coach threw him under the bus. He puts himself there and explains.

"The intention of Steelers players were to stay out of the business of making political statements by not taking the field. Unfortunately, that was interpreted as a boycott of the anthem -- which was never our players' intention."
I never interpreted it as that, but I guess I can better understand why people were going so crazy over it.

Just because they boycotted the anthem doesn't mean they BOYCOTTED the anthem. Duh.

Also, making a political statement against the making of political statements is Wonder-Woman-Levels of retarded.

It's why some Steelers fans burned their shit. From what I understand, this is a trend going on across the country.

I see what you did there.
