... and it's time for me to curse the football gods again as I watch my teams suck. In the non-catt league, I've got 1 keeper (maybe boosted to 2). I get to pick from:

Aaron Rodgers ... $32
DeMarco Murray ... $39
Jordan Reed ... $3
Andrew Luck ... $11

... in a $250 auction setup. DeMarco ain't worth that much, and while I like Rodgers, he's getting old and mortal. Luck's hurt. I may be keeping Reed again. $3 for the #2 TE (#1 after the annual Gronk 6- or 8-game injury about 1/4 of the way through the season)? Yeah, I'll take that.

Maybe we can have a strike, and the 2nd teams can play, cuz then I think the Skins would have a chance.

Burfict already facing a 5 game suspension.

I expect at some point repeat offenders like this are going to face lifetime bans. If safety is such a priority for the NFL and players, why would you allow a scumbag like this to continue playing?

Union head trying to alter rules to ensure his reign?

This is the guy who just said a strike or lockout is inevitable in 2021 and doesn't care if the NFL folds. The players need to get him out.

He (DeMaurice F. Smith) said the first half of those things, and is the Executive Director of the NFLPA.

NFL Players Union President Eric Winston: NFL Lockout 'Inevitable' For 2021

NFL players union president and Cincinnati Bengals tackle Eric Winston is anticipating a lockout when the 10-year collective bargaining agreement expires in 2021, he told WCPO's Keenan Singleton.

“Honestly I don’t care and I don’t think the guys in this locker room care whether this thing’s going to be around in 20 years because none of us are going to be playing,” Winston said.

Fuck 'em all. You know the leader has the same attitude and did the previous deal.

I was too lazy to look up my own post that was probably a single page back.

Browns release Hayden.

There is a ton of interest in him and he's not expected to be a free agent for long.

So why the fuck couldn't they trade him? You're telling me they couldn't get a 4th rounder or something?

Not for the $12 Million per year for the next 3 years. The report came out yesterday they were shopping him and obviously there was no interest from teams to pay him that much.

Joe's not the same player he was when he made the pro bowl in 2013, he's been injured every year since then and really became the 3rd best CB on the roster. He had 6 picks his rookie year and a total of 6 after that, plus he got absolutely owned by smaller receivers like Antonio Brown. Granted, Brown makes lots of CB's look bad, but if Joe was the 5th highest paid CB in the league he needed to play better than he did.

Still, i'm a little baffled by them just releasing him. Its not like Cleveland is strapped for cap space, and he still gives us some veteran depth if/when injuries happen. Joe will be picked up for a much more salary friendly price and go to a winning team, wouldn't be surprised if he's with the Steelers by tomorrow...

It was a bad contract, but shit, they couldn't get anything for him?

They say the Saints and Chiefs are in the lead for his services.

Who would give up any draft pick and be on the hook for $10-$12M per year for the next 3 years when they could wait for him to be released and pay him somewhere in the $3-$5M per year? I'm guessing that's about all he's going to get.

Oh yeah, what did i say about the Steelers?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorites to sign veteran cornerback Joe Haden, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Nice.

The article I liked shows the Saints and Chiefs to be the favorites.

I'd take him.

Bell now wants $17 million.

He can go fuck himself. I hope all his teammates put him on notice when he shows up. Maybe they don't block well for him. Maybe Ben makes him reach for a pass into an oncoming DB.

It's a team sport you selfish prick. Let's put you in one of the league's bottom half teams and see how you do.

I honestly hope the Steelers cut ties with him after the season. Guys like this are a cancer.

I kinda don't understand the Steelers here.. They pay the often injured Joe Haden $7M but won't pay one of the best offensive weapons in the game $17M?

Bell is more than welcome to join the Browns for $17M, i'd pay the man.

CBs are harder to come by than RBs. Also, I think you're severely discounting all the interest Hayden had which forced them to give him a bigger deal than a normal guy that gets cut.

Meanwhile, the league is filled with RBs who have breakout seasons, usually in places with decent QB play and good lines (that's not a coincidence). They also have an average career of 5 years. Now take Bell into account who has still not played a full season mostly due to his own poor behavior, is injury prone, and is doing this holdout that has absolutely zero impact on any salary negotiations. He's playing in one of the top three rated offenses in the NFL with a hall of fame QB, the NFL's #1 WR factory (look it up, I was shocked too), and a line considered one of the league's best.

He's a great player. I would never deny that. I just don't see where he's proven that they should dump all this money on him.

Elliott suspension is NFL's latest black eye.

He also filed suit this morning over it.

Based on what's in this article, this doesn't look great for the NFL. You can't fuck up over the Ray Rice thing, and then try to over correct with the next guy.
