To be fair, they were eliminated in preseason. Joe Thomas tosses in his two cents.
"The guys that are making the personnel decisions, they're the experts on that, so they're the ones that have to make those decisions and look at those decisions when they're made."
Goff underwhelms in debut.
After utterly dominating the Miami Dolphins for 53 minutes, the Rams dropped a 14-10 decision in front of 83,483 fans, spoiling the promising but ultimately unfulfilling debut of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Alright, so that was maybe on their defense letting those two 4th quarter scores in. But then there's this...
"Jared was everything we needed," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said as he stood in the hallway leading to the coaches' locker room, a few minutes after completing his press conference.
He was everything you needed? 17/31 for 134 yards and nothing else. That's what the Rams need. Good to know.
"His presence was great. His communication was great. He made reads and checks and got us in the right protections and had command of the run game. He slid in the pocket and he made throws. He was in control, and he knew it -- it was no different than the way I was feeling.
Soon as the F in NFL stands for "feelings" then Goff will live up to his #1 pick status.
"He didn't lose it. Had the defense made a stop, we'd be in here smiling, and the story would have been, 'Jared won the game for us.' And up until the end, he thought he was gonna win this game, and so did I."
He didn't lose it by himself, but he fucking lost it. When your leading WR has 5 catches for under 50 yards, your QB sucks. When you can't put up more than 10 points on Miami, all of which came from players other than your QB, then your QB sucks. Does LA play Cleveland any time soon? Might be the only way the Browns eek out a win.

Vikings had a 104-yard kickoff return score, a 100-yard pick six, and a 70-something yard punt to boot. That's what it takes for 30 points. Meanwhile Brady throws as many TDs in one week as Bradford does in a month and some of the local sports columnists are already saying the Shurmur system "works." Yeah, like a respiratory system on life support.

I need 14 points from Janikowski + Murray tonight for the upset.

NFL asks Mexican artists to redesign helmets for all the teams.

Some are ok. Some are horrific. The Jaguars should dump their current helmets are grab this one.

Ravens was my favorite. The Seahawks one looks nice, but uh, not for football.

What the fuck, Vikings? Get the fuck rid of Bradford. Dude in the front office that made that call should be publicly flogged. Shaun Hill can't be any less effective and a year of him doesn't cost you a king's ransom in draft picks. Fucking purple retards.

Yet another game the Redskins should have won, but were too shitty in the red zone.

I missed the end, but I heard the Vikings got screwed at the end of the game.

Steelers got a freebie with Luck out.

The vikes screwed themselves. Bradford could've had another 2 turnovers.

Good game last night. I don't blame Kubiak for trying to win it. If his kicker told him he'd make it, you've got to put your faith in the player.

In fantasy I had an epic matchup with the #1 team in the league. We are the only two teams that broke 100 points on the week and sat at 120-110 before kickoff last night. All my guys were done playing and he had the Broncos defense. When the game started we were tied at 120 each, but after the game I won 120-107. Combined with losses elsewhere in my league I've gone from desperate to get into the playoffs as the last seed to having a chance at the #1 seed in a two week time frame. One game left in the regular season and I play the league's worst team. Of course, I'm now jinxing myself and guaranteeing a loss.

Just looked again, and depending on tonight, every other projected playoff team in my league will lose this week. Not sure I've ever seen that happen before.

Cleveland just can't stop being Cleveland.

RGIII and his bimbo robbed during the game.

Maybe someone stole his talent a few years back, too.

Goff put together half a decent game. Means he's about even with Keenum now, and jared's two good quarters came in a row.

Had I started my other kicker, I would've tied.

Catt league: looks like myself and catt are duking it out for the last playoff spot? I've got my div leader for the last week and he's up against one of the crappier teams.

Pussy league: If I w1n (fucking douchebag automatic word substitution) next week and another team loses and I beat them on the tiebreaker (Points for ... I'm up on the season by 1.6 against him), then I think I squeak into the last wildcard spot.

AP is "ahead of schedule."

Cowboys to clinch playoff berth this week.
Dallas clinches a playoff berth:

1) DAL win + TB loss or tie OR

2) DAL win + WAS loss
Miami still deluding itself.
"It is exciting to be where we're at right now," Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill said.
Apparently, Miami wants to be at a level where they just barely beat one of the worst teams in the NFL by a single TD.

Rams embracing shitty coaching for the foreseeable future.
I pressed Demoff to nail down whether Fisher has signed an extension or if he would definitely be back. He would not say. He would not budge. Still, everything he said seemed to hint that Fisher is staying put. And while Demoff's remarks did come before the Rams were whipped, 49-21, by the Saints on Sunday, the sentiment was pretty strong.

"He's a terrific leader of men," Demoff said. "Players, coaches and staff -- he has their complete respect in the way he runs the franchise. It's easy to talk about the record, but you have to take a snapshot of everything this year and give him the credit that he's due.
Complete respect after he promised no more "7-9" bullshit this year and is currently riding a 4-7 record to another forgettable, mediocre season? Complete respect after getting embarrassingly doubled up by a team with a record under .500? Complete respect after pissing away how many draft picks while making the same mistake the Redskins did after he duped them in the RG3 trade? What the in fuck purity of coke is being passed around in the LA home office for Jeff Fisher to still have his head coaching job? Does he know where Kroenke buried the dead hookers?
