I don't think they have much choice right now. Even the best teams would struggle to win with their 3rd string rookie QB. So right now we've got two healthy QB's on the roster both rookies, Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan. I guess they could always put Terrell Pryor back there if they needed to.

The Browns just need to not panic. Don't go trading for a backup to start in Cleveland. They're not winning the Super Bowl this year, so get your rookies some work. Evaluate them. Go into next year's draft at #1 plus Philly's pick (Stranger has to root for the Steelers this weekend. Ha!) with a great idea of what you need the most and what you have with Kessler and Hogan.

Leisher, you got this exactly right, and I'm pretty sure the Browns feel the same way. With 17 rookies on this roster they were already all about getting rookies playing time this year. Plus the Browns have shown they value their draft picks more than anything else so they won't trade for one, they will pick up some washed up grocery bagger somewhere.
Now they have an excuse to play a rookie QB, although he looked like some poo poo was running down his leg yesterday when it looked like McCown was out. He's just not ready to play and he's gonna look terrible.

I must say, the first 10 minutes of yesterday's game was the most fun I've had watching the Browns for a LOOOOOONG time. And it looks like it will be the last 10 minutes for this year. Never thought losing Josh McCown would be such a ball buster.. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.

I think ratings naturally go up and down. Right now you've got a warmer summer than previous years, a ridiculous election, concussions in the news, players not standing for the flag, Netflix, video games, etc. Not to mention all the football watching at parties that don't count in the ratings.
