This 4 minute audio from NPR claims to answer this question, but I'm not going to listen because it's a 4 minute audio.

If anyone can transcript that'd be great.

The courts told him he could not excuse student loan debt. He did it anyway.

Recent Trump Trolling:

Fort Bragg is Fort Bragg, again.
https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/R ... d-l-bragg/

Mt. McKinley is Mt. McKinley, again.
https://alaskapublic.org/news/politics/ ... t-mckinley

Google said they would make it "Gulf of America" on Maps because they would show whatever names the country of access wanted, but it hasn't been done yet. I've been looking. If they had to do more than a simple field edit in a table, they're doing it wrong.

My understanding was they tried one way, and courts blocked it.

They changed the wording to get around the court's objection, and then tens of thousands had old debt dropped. My SO had about 10G's forgiven, she got a "congrats" letter from the bank and her debt was wiped.

But then later I heard there was some objection to the next wave of forgiveness, and then they gave up because Dementia (his staffers running the show got their personal loans/their children's personal loans wiped out, and therefore no longer cared).

So was there an actual defying of court order, or did things get blocked after the fact and couldn't be undone? I don't even know how you'd wipe a person's loan, send them an "all clear" letter, but then get them to sign a new contract. I don't know. I'm not even sure of the nature of the forgiveness, did the Fed just pay off the banks owning the debt?

(no, he didn't). He tried lots of ways, and the court blocked most of them.

Reminds me of how the courts blocked Obamacare, because you couldn't call the penalty a tax (or something like that).

So they called it a fee, courts said that was legal, and ensured the middlemen that kept health care costs high were locked into place for another 50 years.

Thanks Obama!

Google is a dumpster fire to work with when it comes to their mapping folks. I've tried very hard to get some changes made at our SC location to no avail.

Again, the ones the courts didn't block worked.

You have no points.

Jokes aside, Newsweek "fact check" article on the topic.

CNBC

USA Today

Fox Business

CNN

Boston Globe

And there's more, of course, but you get it. All saying that he's pushing forward despite rulings.

You want to excuse him on a technicality because he found some loophole to get around the rulings? Fine.

However, I don't think making every attempt to skirt the law and avoid rulings telling you that you cannot do something should be celebrated. This is especially true when what you're trying to do is bribe voters to influence an election. Even more true when he's using tax payer money and an insurmountable (and growing) national debt.

They saw my post here ridiculing them.

He’ll need to overcome voters’ disappointment that his sweeping loan cancellation plan never materialized after the Supreme Court struck it down, experts say.

Otherwise known as finding loopholes and tricking the system. It's what all criminals and people without morals and ethics do, so congrats?

SCOTUS: You cannot declare such a large forgiveness.

Biden: OK, we'll try a smaller one.

So different than the point of this conversation. Biden abided by the court ruling, the end.

Biden found a loophole to avoid the court's decision.

"They're the same picture."

Ultimately, this was a bribe for votes using tax payer money, so the loophole fits the situation a lot more than pretending the administration was truly concerned about the rule of law.

None of this would have been necessary if the government didn't subsidize schooling in the first place, without controlling what the colleges could charge in order to get that money.
