On a Teams call and bored as they're yammering about stuff for the new office outside of my area. Browsing. Still have that tab open to the rate my body thing Catt suggested. Saw a woman with a laughably hideous tattoo. She's in the spoiler. Learned my lesson yesterday and tried to find a nice one as a pallet cleanser. There were none, so I closed that tab forever and went to one of my normal links to save the day.

Enjoy the spinner, laugh at the tattoo.

NSFW in the spoiler

Interesting tweet. While I don't think it's true about these two specifically because there were hundreds or thousands of similar posts, is the poster correct that these types of posts helped kill remote work?

One of the last papers I did this time two years ago was about remote work. Every study showed workers' productivity went up when they worked from home. Now it's claimed that productivity dropped, which I'd love to see those studies. I'm sure they were done in a huge rush from "Trust me bro" university.

Also, if you're wondering if Windows spies on you, I simply liked the tweet below and then opened Edge (I use it for work stuff), and the homepage is still that MSN clickbait page. The very first story is about remote work.

What's a better metric, "Productivity," or, "Finishes assigned duties?"

Swedish politician believes X should be banned to save Democracy. The comments want her to eat something.

I've never seen anyone in this condition that wasn't legit starving.

It's a good message, but she loses a lot of the audience with that last line.

It's not the devices. It's the SM combined with social pressures of being that age. And there's no easy fix because the genie is out of the bottle.

She says on a short clip on tik tock.

But also, I don't envy their position. And ya, it's the parents' faults.

The genie may be out of the bottle with social media, but remove all devices from children and they won't have access to social media.

I made an argument here against devices in schools at least a decade ago. I got plenty of pushback. I still think they do more harm, than good, to developing brains.

I think being able to augment your thinking with devices is powerful. My brain + computer > my brain or computer.

But you have to remove/ignore the distractions.

Also, school is kinda dumb.

Children have developing brains. We're seeing the results of what happens when you augment their development process with tech. You get 30 zombies staring up at the teacher waiting for their next screen fix.

School is dumb. School didn't used to be as dumb.

If it weren't for the current political climate I might make an argument with the position that school was much less dumb before the Department of Education became a thing.

It was dumb when I was in school. That's all the reference I got.

School was fairly dumb when I was in. The "Just Say No" campaign was big in my day, and it always seemed so damned stupid that we had a quiet farm school out in the middle of nowhere, with 400 kids (1 of them black, and he was the adopted son of the local gay florists and was the biggest kid on the football team so he was awesome), and the principal was so damned paranoid about weed that there were still frequent locker inspections.

But I still learned a lot, even through osmosis. I had real life friends, and did real-life sports through every season. One girl got pregnant the whole four years of high school, we had exactly one fat kid because he had an actual gland problem (and he was the power hitter on the baseball team so he was awesome), no one committed suicide, and bullying was done the old fashioned way, 5 on 1, face to face. No one had straight-Fs. No one needed to be socially promoted.

I feel like GenX was the last normal, healthy generation we got, before screens blew up.

Things have not gotten better. The current way clearly doesn't work. Why keep the experiment going? Why is it so important to anyone except for who own the social media companies, and donates a lot to congress, to keep children on social media? Ooooohh, the answer appears.

I was the first kid in school writing papers on a word processor, and dot matrix printer, in 1989. And look how I turned out.

This is mainly for Catt...

Do you have TikTok? I do not, but this girl comes up in my FB feed. Her handle is Giulihere. You'll want to watch her cook.

If you're not seeing a smoking hot Italian woman wearing tight jeans and a tight shirt that always shows off her perky nips, you're not in the right place.

Another benefit of the Identity Bit:

Through no fault of their own, as soon as a person is an adult and allowed on the big-kids internet they are going to be exposed to thousands of memes and jokes that the rest of us have been seeing for years and decades. "OMG you guys look at this All Your Base video... the old asian translations are hilarious!" "OMG you guys what if you could get a million dollars but an unkillable snail will stalk you your entire life!!??!!"

I mean, it's not bad to be a newb. But some of us don't want to see it again especially since we have no interest in reducing population, and the universe will continue producing silly people faster than anyone can keep up with.

So Identity Bit could put everyone under 5 (years on the legit net) years old on ignore, until they're caught up with the memes and jokes.
