Well that was a whole lot of speculation about nothing so far.

Panthers reached, but said they loved the guy in all the workouts and tape. The run on OT's killed us. Our GM just said the Cards took our last 1st round tackle a pick before.

I hear La’el Collins is still available.

Dude, do you know how hard it is to find a literate guy in Cleveland?

Stuff like that is minor and funny, but at the same time you do look at it and think, "They are poorly run from top to bottom."
I've been reading draft grades this morning, and my favorite quote about the Steelers' pick so far is this one:
Hey look, the Steelers got a steal in the first round of the draft.
My brother-in-law, and I believe Stranger, made the observation last year that all these studs somehow keep falling to Pittsburgh in the first round of the draft year after year. They're onto something because I did a little research...
First, nobody has ever drafted better than the Steelers did in 68-74. Then 75 to 96 their ability to grab decent first rounders took a nosedive. Some good players in there, but Woodson is the only real standout. A lot of busts.
Something happened in 97, and I honestly don't know what. Maybe Colbert took over more that year? I'm not sure, but the scouting department made a very positive change.
We started drafting well again, and also had players slide to us that shouldn't have like Roethlisberger, Heyward, Shazier, Simmons, Miller, Pouncey, and DeCastro. Meanwhile, we traded up three times for Hampton, Polamalu, and Holmes.
(The worst in this stretch was Troy Edwards, by a mile. The jury is still out on Jarvis Jones.)
I'm hopeful that Dupree continues our run of good first rounders.

That's exactly what the draft reviews are saying. They wanted OL, but the draft ran out of them so they seem to have done a "best available" sort of thing.
For the other DTM favorite teams:
-Minnesota is getting decent reviews for Waynes.
-Cleveland is getting As for the first pick and Cs for that second pick.
Overall, I thought this draft was boring as shit. Weird to see two RBs come off the board in the first round, and the Chargers actually traded up to grab Gordon! I really wanted to see Mariotta go the Eagles, and I think the Titans are going to make him look bad.

Redskins got a meh+... but our O-Line does suck nuts.
Yeah, the RB thing was a blast from the past. They've been so unvalued lately.

The Rams picked a RB? The fuck?
The Vikes, ah ... the Vikes. I'll admit their secondary isn't that great and could use help. The O-line seems worse.

Per sources, the Titans communicated to the Eagles last night that they'd have to top the Robert Griffin III deal to get Marcus Mariota.

I can hear it now...
"Pile in the car kids, lets go to the stadium and watch Danny Shelton plug the A gap"
or
"Hey honey, I'm going to the game today. I've just gotta see Cam Erving execute the zone blocking scheme today!"

I take it you weren't thrilled with the Browns' draft?

No, actually I'm very happy with the picks. I wanted either Shelton or Davante Parker at 12, I thought for sure the Vikings would take Parker being that he and Bridgewater were teammates at Louisville. But Shelton was prolly the bigger need.
And the Erving pick is very good for Cleveland. Alex Mack can opt out of his contract next year and highly doubt he will be back, so we needed depth at O-line and he can play every position. You can ask your brother-in-law, I was hoping they would take Dupree there, but of course the Steelers get his ass...
I'm happy with both picks, not sexy but very smart and two highly rated guys for their positions. Also, neither has any off the field issues, injury history, or any other marks against them.. No baggage like most Browns draft picks are.

The real question is which homeless guy called the shots for Cleveland this time.

I'm just glad that Cleveland didn't look like the dumb asses of the draft. They didn't overpay for Mariota or give into Philly with a Bradford trade. Which I still say is the reason Philly couldn't get the trade done, they HAD to have another 1st rounder this year to make it work, Cleveland fucked Philly right in the ass. I'll bet Chip Kelley is red assed today, now he's stuck with a piece of shit, worthless QB that doesn't fit in his system. I guarantee the only reason Philly picked him up was in an attempt to trade him to Cleveland.. FAIL!!!

Pats first rounder is begging fate for a season-ending injury.

You should be as despite not being sexy, they were solid. Being Cleveland, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop...

I agree with this completely. However, I don't think Cleveland fucked them alone. Tennessee gets credit for their stupid asking price. The funny thing is Tennessee should have taken a deal. They don't have the coaching staff to develop Mariotta or change their offense to suit him. Remember how Whisenhut did with all the young QBs in Arizona? He's a defensive guy and he just brought on another defensive guy as his assistant head coach.
It's not just about how talented the player is, but how he fits in the system. I don't believe Mariotta will do great in Tennessee. He might, but there's definitely going to be some adjustments that need to be made.
How long are rookie contracts? 4 years?
What comes first?
1. Mariotta leaves Tennessee when his rookie contract is up and heads to the Eagles.
2. Mariotta struggles and Tennessee takes a lot less to send him to the Eagles in two years.
If the Eagles called tomorrow and offered next year's #1, Bradford, and those two or three defensive guys, Tennessee should take it and run.

I'd agree. The Titans aren't doing shit anytime soon. Even if they have Mariotta, there's no one else on that team worth a cup of watered down gatorade. Mariotta's stock will never be higher than it is right now.

Tennessee got offered the world. They will regret turning it down. Even if they figure Mariotta is the next Manning, they also have to figure he's leaving for Philly in 4 years.

Two first-round picks
One third-round pick
Fletcher Cox, the team's best defensive player
Brandon Boykin, nickel corner
Sam Bradford, starting quarterback
Mychal Kendricks, starting linebacker
Holy shit. As a dude who's team is on the books on the wrong end for one of the worst trades in NFL history, I can't believe: (i) any sane person made this offer, and (ii) any sane person declined. With a passable QB and some reasonably decent WR/RB support, they could at least be a second place lock in the div.
