I think Rust is at it's best when there are some people that will kill you on sight and some that will work with you, and the mix is reasonable enough that it's not insane to occasionally risk trusting someone.
I completely agree, and it's part of why UO worked so well.
There were parts of the map that were "safe" because of the anti-PKers.

No idea if there have been any deaths or anything as all that is turned off. Nobody has been in chat bitching. A question here or there, and at least one friendly conversation between two players. I've keeping my head down and establishing a beachfront.
I'm totally wiping Leisher out though.

I don't kill everyone, until it's obvious everyone is going to kill me. I'm only going to get shot in the face with a shotgun a few times while trying to help a 'newbie' out with some food before I start shooting first. Also didn't start killing people on the new server until houses were up all over the place. Once people got established, the fighting started. It's to the point now on that server that you can run all over the place and see resources not getting collected. People don't need them anymore. The hunt is on.
So, ya. I don't hunt people until I'm being hunted, and I know they can afford the loss. Have yet to raid anyone because I'd reserve that for people who deserve it.
More and more folks getting onto the server. New names constantly.

The only thing I can think of is that it's a combination of 1) having a fresh server map reset and 2) getting the update pushed out quickly so we're one of very few working servers to choose from.

It's been between 5-8 players the entire day post-wipe. I've seen an easy dozen different names, and would honestly guess closer to 15.
Besides the people who intentionally put a target on themselves with names like: i fill coffins and AdmitDeath, I don't know who else is a killer. They ARE on the server because even after those two were logged, other folks were shooting at one another.
The only player who I got a feel for today was Apollon. I'm guessing he's a friendly.

Make that seven mods broken, FixYourName just updated and will go live next time the server reboots.
And yes, I think so, GORDON. I haven't actually tested it, but it seems like a reboot takes away all the sleepers until the next time people log in and out again. It makes sense anyway, or more popular and violent servers would be littered with vulnerable sleepers after an unexpected reboot, which would be a mess.

I got the silencer, shotgun, holo and flash light bpos. FINALLY got something other than a pistol. The bolt action!! I've got some metal building parts. But don't intend to build a metal building. If the population shoots up, I might change my mind.
