Seriously. I'm an old parent, so I figure once I get him through college and married off (I forbade him to marry before or after the age of 30 [and the woman has to be exactly 25]) then I will be 66 years old and my days will become pizza, Netflix, and internet porn. I may never see sunlight again, because fuck daytime. Makes a glare on the TV screen.

Also, speaking of the benefits of aging, there was an episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine where Peralta had to observe a dude in a gym, and an old man was on the machine where the cop would have had the best vantage point. He politely asked the old man, who wasn't doing shit, to move, and the old man immediately turned the volume up to 10, "Help! I'm being intimidated! Elder abuse!" and Peralta is like, "Why are you even here? You are at a point in your life where it is socially acceptable to ride around on a scooter all day."

I'm looking forward to someday being the giant amorphous blob from Wall-E.

Troy, go find the original P90X Yoga video and give it a go. It's no joke. I used to laugh about yoga too, but I've never sweat as much as that workout made me sweat.

All search results are within this thread. If there was a dedicated thread, it probably got pruned last year when we killed everything older than 5 years.

Were you referring to my comment about finding the video? I meant go find it via Pirate Bay or something.

Oh.

I thought I remembered a P90X thread, and was going to move it here.

There might be a P90X thread.

I've been considering giving that program another go, but I really didn't drop weight on it. I added muscle. Wii Fit made me drop 30 pounds in 30 days.

Starting to be able to jog more than 20-30 seconds per 5-minute interval. It's a little gratifying since before now there's been no progress.

Asthma's a bitch.

Inhalers? I used to use those for cold weather EIA.

Was thinking about it, but it's allergic asthma. Spending time outside away from my housemate's dumb cats makes it get better slowly on its own, for free.

Ah... I hate/am allergic to cats as well.

I'm not allergic to cats, but it turns out my cat is allergic to humans.

Turn about, fair play, yadda yadda.

So I've been working out steadily for about 8 months, getting ready for this vacation coming up next month.

Stats:

I've attended the gym approximately 4.7 times a week. I did 6 days at least 5 times, and 3 days only once. Usually 4 or 5.

I have lost 45 pounds as of this morning, overall. I have gained a lot of muscle, suggesting I've lost 50+ pounds of fat.

This morning I did free wight bench press of 225... 15 pounds over my bodyweight. At the beginning I would have been lucky to do 145.

In spite of real stretching exercises, I've not gained any more flexibility since the new year. I think my ligaments and tendons are what they are, at this point. I still can't touch my forehead to my knees. 40 aint no joke.

I'm a hell of a swimmer, now.

My clothes all fit again, and my gym clothes are getting loose on me.

+++

I'll be taking my first real break from the gym in a couple weeks.... no workouts for 10 days, when in Florida. I find myself looking forward to not going for a few days. The repetition is getting to me.

Nice work! I'm sucking at losing weight lately. The real challenge is whether or not you can keep it up when you get back?

I think muscle starts to degenerate after three days of non-use. Is that right?

Eh, I've heard people say you should take a week off once or twice a year.

I've heard a little longer than that, but this vacation isn't sedentary. Hiking, snorkling, scuba diving.

You're not supposed to sit on your ass that week. Light aerobic and calisthenic work is recommended at all times. Just means you don't seriously lift or run.

I know my joints are looking forward to a break. Some days I feel like I am pushing myself right to the edge of injury.

Provided you know exactly where the injury line is drawn and don't slip, that's fine. Life is much more fun when you do things an inch away from out of control anyhow.
