And I would include newspapers (how quaint) as part of the "MSM." If they are printing the words "golden showers..." it doesn't make it any less... whatever.
To the best of my understanding and memory. CNN's Jake Tapper (disclaimer that he's one of the journalists I consider trustworthy) ran a story about the transition that discussed that members of the intelligence community met with Trump and shared with him a two page report about Russians trying to influence Trump and his administration. The two page report had a summary of the dossier, but CNN didn't mention anything specific in the two page report and didn't mention the dossier at all.
Within 6 hours Buzzfeed releases the full dossier online. Only then did subsequent CNN reports even mention the 36 page dossier that Buzzfeed released, and then it was to differentiate between the two page summary report that they were discussing was not the 36 page dossier that Buzzfeed was talking about. At this point, KellyAnne Conway went on CNN and when they defended their position that they never released or discussed anything in the 36 page dossier, Kellyanne then accused them of lying about anyone from the intelligence community from ever meeting with Trump and having the conversation they reported. Within 48 hours James Comey disclosed that he was the intelligence official that met with Trump and gave him the briefing on the 2 page summary and the CNN report was correct. So I think Comey is back to "traitor to the US" by Republicans and "American Hero" to Democrats. But that might have flipped again within the last 20 minutes.
From near the beginning, I'm not sure why Trump is conflating what CNN reported with what Buzzfeed released. Is there more than a handful of people that DON'T believe that the Russians or any number of other countries would try to get compromising information on whoever is in higher office? And then why would Kellyanne damage her credibility (she was one of the more professional acting players from his election team) by stating that CNN was lying about something that was pretty mundane and true?
I just really don't understand a lot of why Trump does what Trump does.
And Buzzfeed needs to be shunned by every legitimate news organization.
