Truth. I was reading an insider report from training camp, and there's a rookie behind Mitchell that apparently outplayed him throughout camp.

The Steelers have done a lot of dumb deals/extensions over the past few years trying to keep this core together. I love the players for their contributions, but it's time to move on from them. They should have done it this year.

Start the rebuilding years now. Hell, I'd even be open to trading Ben away for draft picks. You telling me St. Louis wouldn't give us a bunch of picks right now for him?

Give me a year or two of sucking rather than 5 years of "ok, but not good enough to win the whole thing" teams.

AP indicted for spanking his son with a switch.

Seriously? His now-dead son? The fuck is wrong with the world?

Less than 1% of offenders get the deal Rice got.

As for Peterson, I just grabbed his backup in my work league and will start him this week. My RBs there were in trouble this week.

In my F&F league I'm torn about grabbing him. My team is pretty solid and I don't really need him, but I'm #1 on the waiver list and what if this guy starts all year? That's another #1 RB... Do I put Romo on the waiver wire (I have Brees) and grab this guy just in case?

Well, just nevermind what I said above.
Imagine looking up at Adrian Peterson through the eyes of a four-year-old child.
The police report of what happened to one of Peterson's sons is sickening. The photos, which reportedly show week-old lacerations, are more so.
The act of what happened in Texas to that little boy, if true, is worst of all. Peterson has been indicted for whipping a child repeatedly with a tree branch. There were injuries all over his body, including on his scrotum. There is a warrant for Peterson's arrest

The original article made it sound like his now dead son, this makes it sound like a different son?

Holy shit...

That's disciplining your child and there's child abuse. If you're giving them a swat on their ass, it's discipline. If you're leaving marks and drawing blood, it's child abuse.

Yeah, the original article made it sound like a severe spanking. The latter articles make it sound much, much worse.

Its been 315 days since the last Browns win.. Needless to say, i feel great today!

Hoyer delivered without arguably his top 3 offensive threats (Gordon, Camron, Tate). Don't think we'll be seeing Johnny anytime soon, except maybe a play or two here and there. And that will stop if Hoyer continues to prove himself.

Defense looked great against a top notch offense. Jimmy Graham had another fantastic day, but nobody stops that guys.

It's been an interesting contrast in public reaction to the Rice and AP scandals.

Here was one friend's reaction: (he's black, probably 20 years older than me)
Has the world gone completely mad? I'm so sick of knee jerk reactions. What in the sand hill is this Adrian Peterson crap about? This is so stupid. If this is the case they need to exhume my father, indict him and suspend him from his job. My pop use to make me go out and pick the switch to get beat with. If it was too small I got more "licks" as he called them. I think this is what's wrong with our society today, these little kids don't get punished at an early age, don't taste violence from a superior so they don't learn, actions create consequences and responsibility has accountability. And you don't bully the weak of either sex or animals. You young parents need to get up in the morning and beat your kids whether they did something or not, because they will sooner or later. If something lives in my house that I'm feeding and I can't discipline or do conflict resolution, it's got to go. Get the heck out and away from me and mine. So AP can't do his job because he spanked his kid a year ago? PEOPLE, PLEASE! Bring your kids to my house I'll beat em so I don't have to work.

I responded:
I felt the way you did last night... but more details have come out today. It wasn't just a severe spanking.

His response to that:
what else was it, time out in the corner and who brought all this to light, the mother?

That bolded part makes no sense to me.

Ha, no, i don't think whooping ass for the hell of it counts as deterrence. That's just being a dick.

It's funny, but he's knee jerking while complaining about knee jerking.

As I said before, there's discipline and there's abuse.

I get the switch thing. My dad, his brothers, and sisters all talk about being told to get in the yard and get the switch that was going to be used to beat their ass. However, you know what the subsequent discipline didn't bring? Cuts or blood.

It's because their parents knew to show restraint. They knew not to hit a kid with a bare ass or a thinly covered ass. They knew not to go overboard with the number of swats.

They knew the real punishment was the kid having to go get the switch.

During that time to kid reflects on their mistake. They're learning what they did has a consequence. It's also time for the parent to calm down, if needed.

The swat they'd get upon returning was the consequence. Softened by clothes to prevent injury, but still allow a sharp sting.

The funny thing is that consequence was only needed a handful of times before everyone knew what it meant if one of their parents mentioned a switch. The kids all learned not only from their own mistakes, but from watching others being punished.

That's discipline. It's not over the top, and it's not the hippie bullshit that so many people want you to think is effective, but isn't.

Has your friend seen the photos? That's not a swat or two on the rump. That was clearly someone going to town on a child's unprotected legs.

Bradshaw may be my sleeper steal of the year in all 3 leagues. And hallelujah Sproles. Got him, Woodhead, and Ahmad as RBs in keeper PPR.

Sproles killed me in my F&F league last night.

Although had Toby Gerhardt played this week (he didn't score a single point) and Robbie Gould gotten more than 4 points, I would have been fine.

How crazy is it that during lunch today I'll be contemplating cutting a starting RB in the NFL because most teams' backup RBs score more points than he does?

Whats even crazier is that you think of Toby Gerhardt as a starting RB! LOL!

Not since the magical season of Peyton Hillis and maybe a couple good years from Mike Alstott has a white RB been effective in the NFL.. My advice, just drop his ass

He IS a starting RB, just for a really shitty team.

I need guys that get carries. Carries equal yards and sometimes TDs. Gerhardt's team is so bad they had to abandon the run in the 2nd quarter.

Looking at his schedule though, I might have no choice but to drop him.

Wait a second. I just noticed that due to Ray Rice's bad behavior, I have a starting RB on my bench in Bernard Pierce. Find the pine Toby!

My team is solid and I'm 1-1, but I haven't lit the scoreboard on fire. I could make some tweaks to my roster or sit on my #1 priority on the waiver wire and wait for someone to go down...

What to do?
