UO pretty much 0wnz0red EQ when it comes to owning property. You couldn't really buy or build houses in EQ.
I think UO ran into their trouble with people within the company creating and selling property to players around the time EQ came out, didn't they?

I'm pretty sure that was in UO. At any rate, I think that forever changed companies approach to the idea.
