I'm suggesting that one doesn't need a lot of imagination to realize that an organization which...
...the only mandates of the DHS and TSA is to solidify the power of the federal government at the expense of the people.
... does shit like this has immortality as a foregone conclusion. I could've bought the TSA (much like the Social Security Act) as a temporary fix that went away after a decade or so, not a permanent cog that we were missing up to that point in time. Once boxes of that kind are opened they are never closed specifically because the dudes in charge of closing them are the ones that benefit most from keeping them open.
It's like asking Congress if Congress needs a raise. Of course Congress says yes.

My hope at this point is that a small government guy becomes President and uses the NSA databases to go back and pull all the "deleted" and otherwise lost documents of all the scandals over the last few years. Let some of these jokers go to prison and I think we'd see all sorts of legislation reining in federal authority.

Hope that party wins a significant segment of Congress and all the judicial appointees from previous administrations die or retire.

Let's partition that shit. Because if there's one thing the Sunni and Shi'ite communities can do, it's live next to each other in harmony.

Kurds want to cut ties. Iran has an opinion. Marvelous job we did over there.

ISIL bitchslaps Kurds.
Terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) seized control of Iraq's biggest dam, an oilfield, and three more towns Sunday after inflicting their first major defeat on Kurdish forces since sweeping through the region in June.
...
The ISIL transferred its wounded members to the Baiji hospital, where local citizens were forced to donate blood to the injured militants.

Former prez refuses to leave office after losing elections.
Washington, which helped install Maliki following its 2003 invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein, congratulated Haidar al-Abadi, a former Maliki lieutenant who was named by President Fouad Masoum to replace him.
But Maliki's Dawa Party declared his replacement illegal, and Maliki's son-in-law said he would overturn it in court. Washington delivered a stern warning to Maliki not to "stir the waters" by using force to cling to power.
Looks like we bet on the right horse in that race.

There is no "right horse" to be found in that part of the world.

What a bargain we paid to find out.
The U.S. war in Iraq has cost $1.7 trillion with an additional $490 billion in benefits owed to war veterans...

Iraq: Troops, assholes. We want them over here. Now.
Kurds + air strikes = not quite enough.

Iraq is getting its ass kicked so badly, they're inviting the Iranians to help them.

US giving Iraq anti-tank weapons. Wonder how many of them will end up in ISIL hands.

Iraqis fight like the French.
"What apparently happened was that the Iraqi forces just showed no will to fight," Carter said.
