This is a fun little "What If?" video.

I did a similar, but much smaller thought experiment once that the Amish were right, but picked the wrong year. Maybe we should have stopped in the 80s or 90s.

Some things along that line that I have thought about.

Cars: In 1989, I bought a 1968 Galaxie 500 convertible. It was a big deal. I bought a neat, old, classic car. It was VERY different from anything my friends were driving. It was a conversation starter. It was a 'big deal'.

Right now, if I were to buy a 2004 Ford Crown Victorian. No one would consider that a 'neat, old, classic car'. No one would care. They'd wonder why I wasn't buying a neat, old, classic car from the 60's.


Music: In the 80's, I remember my parents listening to their music, often called the 'moldy oldies' and 'classic music' from the 50's and 60's. No one would EVER say that about the 80', 90's, and certainly not the early 2000's. We do have "80's music" and maybe "90's music". But as far as I'm concerned, after that, it's just 2000's music.

100% agree. There are very few actual bands now making original music. Everything is just a beat usually sampling old songs. And now AI music is a legit concern.

Humanity might have peaked in the 80s/90s.
