Two thoughts:

1. I'm building the metal house in an out of the way location. I'm still leaning towards putting it at the north end of the Everust mountains. I'm leaning towards a 4x4 footprint.

Why?

Because we learned a lesson on the last server. The guys with metal towers out in the open were obviously in bed with the admins or were the admins themselves. The guys on the Darkfall server didn't have metal houses, but they sure as hell controlled all the resources, and in the end, were proven to be the admins.

If people figure out we're the admins, we'll be viewed the same way. If you're not the admin or in that circle, why would you PvP them? They have all the power. Look at their giant metal fortress!

Cake and I were discussing all this today, and he pointed out that we've kind of forgotten the attitude we had towards those guys, because here we are doing the same thing.

His thought is that if you want the PvP, build a wood house out in the open, and dare them to come get you. Don't make it so obvious that you're the admin or in the admin's circle. I agree.

The location will put it between the West and East sides of the map, but away from the "Civ" areas (except Big Civ).

If we must have a house in the most highly trafficked area, why not use Catt's? With all the metal doors, it already is a fortress. It's also not particularly well hidden sitting between Rad Town and Civ Desert.

Or if you really want a house out in the open to draw attention, I'll build one, just tell me where, but it's going to be wooden. We don't need to show off to the other 4 people on the server, nor do we want it to be so imposing that nobody tries to invade it or, as on the last server, even tries to fight us.

2. Whatever ideas you have to get the server population up, please do so. However, if you get into fights with someone, give them a chance to get going and/or rebuild. Catt, I'm looking at you. Catt went nuclear on the two guys who Tas and Cake were enjoying fighting, and they haven't been seen since. Next time, show some restraint. Maybe steal their C4, hand grenades, signal canisters, and research kits instead of looting everything, and then destroying every bit of furniture in their house, and then pissing on the remains...

And don't think I'm picking on you because that story is comedy gold. I mean, you literally nuked them from orbit.

I'm just saying to go a bit easy on your enemies. You kind of did the same thing to Dog and Miss Cassie, and they're gone too... :D

Metal fortress is up (location in the sticky thread). Only one floor done. I need more metal. Takes a LOT of metal to build a house. Kind of happy to discover that to be honest.

Although, I did build a 4x5 house, and not a 3x3, which I did previously.

Again, first floor will be for dropping off stuff, and picking up once we're operational. Second floor will be for crafting.

Every additional floor will be for a person. I'll build the outside walls (windows for residential unless you ask for walls) and the stairwell. You take care of everything else on your floor. You can even install the door and code it differently, so you can have some privacy.

The roof is going to be a lookout area.

Right now I'm planning floors for Tas, Catt, TPR, Cake, and myself. Haven't seen Gordo here yet or Stranger, but will add if they show up and want one, obviously.

I could even shrink the footprint going up to use less metal if we wanted to and turn the third floor up into a 4x4 or even 3x3, and make a 3rd floor external patio with spike walls on the edges.

Anyway, come take a look at it. Door code is the standard. Bring metal and metal building parts, including doors and window bars! Also bring any house decor you don't want (campfires, furnances, storage, etc.).

I'll show restraint... I was just trying to play the game the way I can play it, since I'm bad at pvp so far. I toyed with letting them have some stuff, but was mad since I had tried to talk to them, and they just ignored me.

Question: What is the point of metal buildings? I mean, same doors, and you can peak through the metal still, right?

I'll be back to playing in a few days once I'm back home.

This for me too, only end of next week - hope the red bears are gone by then and replaced by something fun.

I shouldn't need a floor. I think my current wooden house is secure enough to last a long time. It would take a lot of C4 to get to me even if they took the shortest path.

Steam update and Oxide core update applied. Server rebooted with no oxide errors logged, so it should be all good.

I can connect to an official server no problems, but I can't seem to connect to ours. The loading screen text goes straight to "Connected!" but that's all I can get, and the server logs don't agree that I've connected. Anyone else?

None of the server mods should be capable of causing client problems, but if no one else can get on let me know and I'll start disabling them until we figure out which one is the problem.

I noticed oxide wasn't working last night. Also, you can enable cheat punch if you'd like.

No oxide at all? But you were able to log in?

Any word on how to enable cheat punch?

I was on, but none of the / commands worked.

Also I believe you add "-cheatpunch" to the execute command.

I think I've gotten cheatpunch enabled, but for some reason oxide still won't load. I can't figure out why.

I'll do more work on it from home tonight. I can't go into the game from work, sadly.

And on that note, would anyone else here like password access to the server controls? I trust y'all not to make a mess of things too much, and that way if there's a problem and I'm not around you don't have to wait for me to show up to try to fix things.

Just let me know.

Confirmed Oxide not working.

Pieces of my house are missing. The stairs from level 2 to 3, and an entire wood doorway + door.

Apparently oxide is temporarily dead. They are working an a release for the new patch. It's not out yet. I'll keep an eye out for it to show up on the server admin screen, but until then no one craft any C4 because that would be cheating.

Are all the posts still there?

I thought decay was top-down, not walls-then-posts. Although it may have been changed. Or I might have been wrong.

No problems in my house. The shack I first built did decay though.
