This is another perfect example of where political discourse currently resides in this country, and why we're destined for bloodshed. It's also a great example of how social media silences voices (corporately or privately moderated). Person makes an absolutely valid point about PornHub, but because PornHub are the "good guys" right now in the eyes of the left (because of the Utah porn law Rs in that state passed), they get banned.

PornHub can absolutely have evilly profited off sexual exploitation of minors and this Utha law can also be stupid. Both of those things can be true at the same time. Why is EVERY-FUCKING-THING "All or Nothing" in every political argument?

There have been quite a few incidents lately with people shooting up other people they consider are harming them, because of their political beliefs.

Maybe the bloodshed stage has already started.

You can only call a gun owner "deplorable," or a trans person an "aberration," so often, and not give either of them any kid of mental healthcare, and hope they never start blasting.

What's mental health care? Sounds important. Our government and medical industry should probably look into that.

It's neither valid nor true, but let's let the puritans keep ruining this country. It may have been true at some point, but so far has not been proven to be intentional (ie. ads show content from the site, but not knowingly minors or trafficking victims).

Love that movie. IIIRC it was made after the first season of south Park was made, but before it aired and trey and matt got famous. (Movie is Orgazmo.)

Also, I get what you are saying and don't disagree. Bad things happened, but it has yet to be proven if it was intentional (it was...see below) and they've cleaned that shit up. That guy's statement is mostly hyperbole though. However, my point was just about the hypocrisy going on within reddit, not what the PornHub-Utah argument itself.

I can google bestiality (I mean, I assume, I'm sure af not going to), is google evil and terrible? Now, pornhub hosts content (I assume?) which make it a little different, but overall, if you're taking user submitted stuff, the challenge is that once you start editorializing, you're then responsible for EVERYTHING per internet laws that still exist from the 90s, iirc. Providers do have the ability to remove stuff based on terms of service, and companies like Youtube, Facebook, pornhub, etc all do that. And they were ALL slow to do it.

At any rate... yes, reddit is a hole.

Yeah, this was where I was going with the "the lawyers probably made them go slowly" comment.

Are they? I mean, there's always going to be some that gets through, but afaik all users uploading stuff must be verified, which has cut down a lot.

I think as long as the "Amateur" category exists, you'll have videos posted that shouldn't be posted. You're talking about actors/actresses who don't have union cards to prove their age/consent.

I've encountered these people on dating apps. There are a lot of them.

The things they want are completely ridiculous. I always wonder what planet they live on when they start talking about international travel within 20 exchanged messages. The subtle ones are "send me money so I can pay my cell phone bill and can continue talking to you." The insidious ones claim to have a young child in an abusive household, and they need $50 for a hotel, tonight.

But I guess it must work sometimes.

The desperate chase for social media clout has made people lose all common sense.

Side note: Attractive white women have the easiest path to internet fame and riches, yet remain "the most oppressed demographic".

Yesterday a white female nurse was destroyed on the internet for stealing a rental bike from a black man. She was called a racist and a thief. Her name and picture were spread all over the world. People wanted her to be fired and she was placed on administrative leave.

Turns out that she had reserved and paid for the bike.

The black guy was the one doing the stealing.

So far I haven't seen a single person apologize who put her on blast and called her names.

Never underestimate the average internet user's ability to look at a situation for 2 full seconds, and immediately know the motivations of all the players, and have a full grasp of the situation.
