I get his argument, and could easily say it applies to other businesses, and even governments...

However, I don't think people are going to be turning off the NFL because their love of football isn't going to diminish. Hell MLB is doing fine despite a ridiculously long schedule, a massive and on going cheating scandal, a system that allows spenders to win, and the most boring sport of the big four.

Do we really think football can suffer from overexposure?

And how hypocritical is it for him to be making these statements? His league has games on nightly from October/November until June, and they're on TNT, ESPN, ABC, and I believe TBS? They also play a ridiculously long season (82 games). Plus, their stars are more marketable because they don't wear face masks.

In today's NFL news...

DeSean gone.

MJD in the OAK?

Harry Reid warns Redskins fans that he will be shoving a large political stick up their collective ass in the next few years.

The Steelers didn't want to pay MJD the $3 million a year he sought. I don't think the other three teams interested did either. Of course, there's always the Raiders. Nice to see they're the same even without Davis.

Oh, and Harry Reid is an asshole. The country is swirling the drain, and he thinks that's a priority?

Because Native Americans are organized. We have Native Americans who now are not all poor. We’ve got these Indian gaming establishments who have money, who are gonna help with this.

Were I a Native American, I think I'd find these statements a bit offensive because they're implying the economic options for my people consist of: (i) poor or (ii) rich with a casino.

Comes to visit.

I reserve my rights to both a) criticize this if he joins the Skins and it goes poorly, and b) Criticize the Skins for not signing him if he goes elsewhere.

Washington is among several teams, including the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks, reportedly interested in the 27-year-old Jackson, who was released on Friday.

Raiders: Dizzam, they're signing just about everyone.
Jets, Bills: Don't even possess average QBs.
Seahawks: I imagine they'll have cash leftover after they release/trade more as training camp approaches.

Graham to the Raiders
BREAKING NEWS: JIMMY GRAHAM TRADED TO RAIDERS FOR 3 DRAFT PICKS
Posted by Andrew Juge on Apr 1, 2014 00:01

The Saints offseason took an unexpected turn as the team has decided to ship Jimmy Graham off to Oakland for the Raiders’ 1st, 3rd and 7th round picks in 2014. Wow. Word is the Saints will now make Eric Ebron, tight end out of North Carolina, a drafting priority come May. Graham continued to insist on “Megatron” type money and the Raiders have rewarded him with a 6 year contract for $92.5 million with $40 million guaranteed. That’s an astronomical figure that the Saints were never going to come close to paying. The contract makes Graham the highest paid tight end in history by almost $5 million per year. That is an astronomical contract for Graham and the Raiders also gave up the 5th overall pick to get him. It remains to be seen who the Saints will get with that 5th pick but there are lots of difference making options.

DeSean Jackson can earn $24 million on the three-year deal he signed Tuesday night with the Washington Redskins, a contract that will pay the former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver $16 million guaranteed.

That doesn't seem unreasonable considering his age and talent. Kinda high on the guaranteed, but inline with what Eric Decker got overall.

Decker's good, but not good enough to be a stand out dude on his own. Someone with above average talent has to throw him the ball with good accuracy. DeSean's better than Decker.

Right, but he was the best WR available in free agency, so that was my yardstick. I think the Skins didn't do anything dumb, yet.

The Steelers just signed Darius Heyward-Bay. He'll stretch the field for us.
