And then some people fly through Atlanta and Phoenix when both states are #1 & 2 in the infection rates, and never get it at all.

Those fuckers.

At that rate, most of the country will have had it by the new year.

Which, according to official reports, most of the entire country will be hobbling around with 40% lung capacity. I'm curious to see what this new world looks like.

Prep for more lockdowns.

My wife works in the schools and the administration is prepping everyone for lockdowns again. 3 schools in the region have already gone 100% virtual. Just talked to my co-worker whose wife works in the state just south and their board is really shitty about communicating this stuff. She hasn't heard anything yet, but considering the state is experiencing pretty big numbers, it wouldn't be shocking.

Our governor recently enacted new restrictions that resulted in a very popular local restaurant to close its doors temporarily. The gov says restaurants now have to take down the names and contact info for anyone eating there.

More states announcing restrictions.

TP and disinfecting wipe sales are being limited again in anticipation of a lockdown.

I started paying attenion to the household TP usage, since that's a thing one now needs to be aware of.

We use 3 costco (Kirkland) TP packs PER YEAR. It's nice to not have women in the house running through all the TP.

I realized in March during the last hoarding.... I had just bought a new thing of TP from Costco the month before. All through the shortages, we had tons, and I didn't even buy more until like July. I thought that was weird.

The US reported more than 121,000 infections Thursday, beating a daily case record it set just 24 hours ago.
Holy fuck.
Well, at least hospitalizations aren't rising.
As nationwide cases soar, the number of hospitalized Americans is also climbing, with now more than 53,000 patients across the US, according to the COVID Tracking Project.
Oh damn, well, at least people aren't dying.
The US reported 1,210 deaths Thursday, the third day in a row the nation lost more than 1,000 people, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
Hmmm.

We haven't been able to get disinfecting wipes anyway.

4 women in my house.

We go through TP like a minigun runs through ammo.

I seriously recommend a bidet. Just get a cheap $40 one off amazon, for a test run. If you like it, get the one with the seat warmer and heated water for like $300.

It's a game changer, and you use way less TP since wiping is not about cleaning, just gently dabbing yourself dry.

So far, they appear to be very low. This is an mRNA vaccine, which is a new approach (as I understand it). Pfizer decided to research + Develop the drug with ZERO public money (So, remember that when the administration takes credit).

This Pfizer vaccine is new tech, 21st century stuff.

I'm trying to explain to my parents in a way that won't freak them out. But - instead of using a dead virus to get immunity, the vaccine will edit your RNA way upstream and give you immunity that way.

It sounds pretty Gattaca, and I think it will freak people out when they realize.

Saw that earlier.

Also, I was being sarcastic with the long term addiction comment since drug companies getting nailed for furthering the opioid epidemic has been big news lately.

It is extremely cool, but also is a bit concerning. Definitely one I'll let other people try out first.

Listening to interviews on the (left leaning) Fox News, Pfizer didnt' take Warp Speed development money but took a 2 Billion contract for their vaccine ahead of time for the US Gov, hoping and assuming it would be effective.

That sounds like it sorta counts.

It was contingency on success, which is a pretty normal contract. It wasn't guaranteed cash like Warp Speed. So I say it doens't count.
