McCown, Glennon, Campbell, EJ. Don't even think of starting Eli versus Seattle's D.

McCown isn't even the planned starter. You think they'll pull Cutler/he'll get injured that fast?

Minimum NFL salary for a practice squad dude for one season: $100K.

Minimum wage: $7 and change. What's your point?

That's more ego or pride, which is the only thing I've seen that trumps wanting more money.

Which completely contradicts your argument.

I say they give more of a fuck about cash than they'd like to admit. I'd say it's their #1 priority in a pro sport that could see their careers done in a single hit. No one wants to be the next Jahvid Best. Everyone would like to be the next Barry Sanders and retire at their peak.

You seriously don't see what you're doing there?

I was unaware you played any of these professionally, as in "this is how I earn my living and pay my bills." If you're doing it as a hobby, that's quite different.

PCs are a hobby that I now get paid to work on. Sure, the money is great, but the fact that I don't hate waking up to go to work is a MUCH bigger factor in my happiness and satisfaction with my life.

P.S. I didn't realize professional athletes were training to go pro from the pee wee leagues. According to your logic, our primary motivation from birth is a bigger payday. Not love. Not to conquer ones enemies. Not to rule. Not to procreate. Nope. It's to make lots of Benjamins.

And I bet a fuckload of NFL players would forgo their contractual bonuses to get some Super Bowl jewelry. That's still ego.

And again, ego proves my point right, and your point wrong.

Hell, the entire PED thing in every fucking sport is about the money. Why? So you can get bigger and faster dudes. Why? To win more. Why? Because winning teams make more money, players on winning teams make more money. There are some pathological cases where results don't matter much, e.g. Green Bay could go winless for 100 years and still sell out every home game, the Minnesota T-Wolves could win ten straight NBA championships and still have shit attendance, but for the most part, not as many fans go to see losers. Ask the Montreal Expos.

I don't know what that has to do with anything.

McCown, Glennon, Campbell, EJ. Don't even think of starting Eli versus Seattle's D.

I would look at Glennon or EJ.

Campbell has Gordon, but Chicago is no slouch.

I think my first choice would be Glennon, but if you go with him and you lose, don't blame me.

Cutler's in? Well, damn. I've not been paying attention lately. Then it's down to Glennon or Campbell. Glennon is playing Frisco this week, dude, not Buffalo. Buffalo is playing Jacksonville.

Hmm, let's check Campbell and EJ, then. Actually, fuck it. Jacksonville has been doing well against mediocre teams as of late, so I wouldn't trust rookie EJ. Much as I hate to say it, even with no running game, I'd still take Jason at home versus Da Bears.

Seattle/SF are both top 3 for point defense. Chicago/Jax are both bottom 5. That makes me lean Manuel or Campbell. And since Manual has sucked so badly since the injury, that leads me to Campbell.

If McCown were starting, he'd be a no-brainer. But since Chicago's coach is a no-brainer....

Minimum wage in the NFL is $100K, guaranteed.

I don't know what that has to do with anything.

The owners and players of NHL, MLB, NBA, and NFL do not make the integrity of the game their #1 concern.

Jason's got both Flash Gordon and J-Cam, either of whom could end up destroying Chicago's secondary.

Still don't see the point.

Still has no relevance on anything.

Still don't see the point.

There aren't a lot of careers I know where the bottom rung, entry level job is a $100K lock from day one. Most of them won't make it as stars and most will wash out at some point, but that amount of cash still makes me question pretty much everyone's "dedication to the game" since most players don't give me a way to uncouple it from their dedication to their paycheck.

Still has no relevance on anything.

The integrity of the game went up against money. Money won.

If the NHL wanted more integrity, they'd make fights illegal.
If the NBA wanted more integrity, they'd start making them play fucking basketball by the goddamn rules.
If MLB wanted more integrity, they'd start permabanning the juicers.
Etc.

You think $100k annually for a job you could have for less than a year to 15 years is striking it rich?

You're certainly overlooking a LOT to make that conclusion. You should be on Mythbusters! :D

Maybe the pay is that high BECAUSE of what you're overlooking? Nah! That can't be it!

If the NHL wanted more integrity, they'd make fights illegal.

What? Explain?

FYI: It's been argued by a lot of people that fighting hurts their mainstream appeal. That is contrary to your position...

If the NBA wanted more integrity, they'd start making them play fucking basketball by the goddamn rules.

And this has to do with the players and not the owners how exactly?

If MLB wanted more integrity, they'd start permabanning the juicers.

Again, this is because of the players' greed, how?

I'm sorry Malcolm, but your argument just isn't making sense, and honestly, it's kind of going all over the map.

Based on your stance in this thread, the following statements are true:
-People play sports for the love of the game, and out of competitive spirit, however once they receive a paycheck, they only play the game in the name of greed. (Ok, the majority...)
-Ego has nothing to do with a person's competitive spirit.

So far:
Campbell 1
Manning 0
McCown 0
Manuel 0
Glennon 0

I should have picked up Cousins.

Well, Campbell was decent.

My big mistake was benching Garcon cuz I thought Cousins would suck. Losing by 3, otherwise would be up 15.

KC D had 19 today

Oh, and this is the week I also cut Matt Flynn. Maybe I need a new fantasy coach.

Justin Tucker is awesome.

During his post-game, but still on the field interview, he started thanking himself on behalf of his fantasy team, and gave a shout out to fantasy owners who had him.

Fucking hilarious.

Given Gronk is dead, I'm vaguely considering wasting my last keeper spot on him.

EDIT: I take it back. Some sources have him marked as ready for the beginning of 2014. No fucking way.

Well, you should use him in 2014 for the 4-5 games he'll actually play!

6.5 games active this year, and with two weeks to go, he's still #15 in my league. Besides, I think a football helmet to the knee knocks out anyone.
