Daniels became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to win multiple playoff games in his rookie season, joining Brock Purdy, Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco.
There's an elite group. :\

Correct. The Browns have a chance to improve. We do not.
TheCatt wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:54 pm I love the Commanders making so many 4th down attempts, and MAKING them at Detroit. Dan got out-Danned.
That was the key. Detroit has over 30 guys on IR, and many are D players. Washington came in with a plan of exploiting that D, and it worked. Props to them. I am genuinely rooting for them to get to the Super Bowl. We'll see who they play before I decide if I want them to win. If it's Buffalo, I'll root for the Bills. Ravens or Chiefs? Go Commanders!
TheCatt wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 8:31 am So, uh, The Commanders are totally losing Kliff Kingsbury, aren't we?
You might keep him. I don't believe he has a very extensive network in the NFL. Now if they do it again next year...

Big Ben isn't on that list because they had the #1 seed and got a bye. Then they faced the Spygate Patriots.

Let me close on, "Fuck the Chiefs". The blatant favoritism by the refs reminds me of the Patriots run.

I feel bad for Detroit. I don't feel bad for Baltimore, but I do for Lamar and Henry.

Go Commanders and Go Bills!

Not strange for a game. Strange for all four though.

I couldn't find any odds, but feels like a 40% thing when having fewer yards. If true 0.4^4 = 2.56%

One thing I heard last weekend at a football get together at Stranger's was that the Lions' offense is actually Campbell's. It's his scheme and system. That kind of shocked me. No idea if it's true or not, but we'll see. Will Johnson have success or will he be another Hackett?

Head coach: Dan Quinn
Offensive coordinator: Kliff Kingsbury
Defensive coordinator: Joe Whitt Jr.

Listen. This is not good.

Quinn is a players' coach, and he has a system he has run into the ground -- he knows the ins and the outs of it, and he can get it on the field quickly and cleanly. The problem is every good offensive coordinator in the league knows how this defense works -- four down, zone coverages, certain checks against certain formations -- and can find success accordingly. Quinn's "line up and play fast" approach can work with a souped-up roster like the one enjoyed in Dallas, where stars such as Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland could line up and beat the guy across from them. In Washington, where the defensive roster is really thin? The Quinn shtick won't work as easily.

Now, Kingsbury is a players' coach, and he has a system he's run into the ground -- he knows the ins and the outs of it, and he can get it on the field quickly and cleanly. Are you seeing the issue here? Kingsbury's Air Raid approach far too often leaves his quarterback checking into screens, running pre-snap RPOs or praying a wide receiver wins a one-on-one deep down the field. This offense floundered in Arizona because there wasn't enough multiplicity or deception, much as Quinn's defenses struggle for their simplicity.

I love the vibes in the room -- Quinn, Kliff and Whitt all get along well with the fellas. But schematically, this is as stale of a room as I can remember. Here's hoping they prove me wrong.
I wonder how they feel about this take now.

Funny how a really good QB can make any coach look like a genius.

To be fair, they kind of gave themselves an out with that last line. I was more right about the Commanders than whoever wrote that article. :D

Also, you'll enjoy this: Bill Simmons, on his latest pod said, "If I told a Cowboys fan in August that the NFC Championship was between two NFC East teams, they'd be stoked." Ha!

True. Still have to give them the system that fits them, but a QB that can process really fast is a game changer for an organization.

Although, winning SBs with mediocre QBs says a lot about a team and their coach, like Trent Dilfer winning a SB.

There was some stat about rookie QBs in conference championships games, and the D their team had. All had top 5 Ds, except JD.

Big Ben had to have been one of them? They lost to the cheating Patriots (Spygate).

If Daniels stays healthy, your team is in amazing shape going forward. I mean years, not just the next game or two. This success has to be a kick in the dick for Snyder.
