Former Commanders VP sues the team.
If I'm reading that right and he helped bring down Snyder, then it feels like the NFL owners should do the right thing and get him paid. $7.5M is less than nothing to them, and this guy helped get rid of their biggest headache.

The NFL seems to be over paying RBs.
The lack of importance of RBs, particularly "one man shows" on teams is killing fantasy.

RBs are mad they're not getting paid.
They have a legit case about their importance to a team, but the teams have a legit concern about putting too much money into a position that isn't QB.
I genuinely think the NFLPA needs to push for a good jump in the salary cap next time during negotiations. However, I also think there's room for other rules to help positions get paid. For example, the NBA has some sort of trigger that allows a player's performance or individual awards to get him paid more, but that extra doesn't count against the cap or something. (I'm clearly not a salary cap expert.)
The best solution that the players would never go for is to give them all base salaries with their performances determining the rest of their pay. I wouldn't blame them for not accepting it either. Injuries or teams purposely sabotaging them at thresholds would be the dangers there.
I feel like there's a real opportunity here. If someone could figure out a unique way to do salary caps where players have room to get paid without hurting their team's ability to sign others, but also not breaking a team's profitability, there's money in that.
Here's an idea: QBs are clearly the most important position in all of team sports and the NFL goes out of their way to protect them. What if each team designated a QB1 at whatever NFL year day is appropriate and that person's salary did not count against the cap? It opens up a lot of room for teams to sign other players and allows teams to really lock down their franchise QBs.

Look, RBs just don't matter. They're nice, but they're not QB. And the QB is (mostly) throwing to WRs. So protect the QB with OL, and then on the other side, you try to stop the QB with DLs + DBs. RBs are an afterthought.

QB salaries would skyrocket.

I won't say you're wrong, because you're not with the way today's game is played, but there is a difference between RB1 and RB3, particularly from game to game. The Pollard-Elliot combo in Dallas really proved that.
Do RB1s deserve WR1 money? Is Pollard changing a game like Hill or Jefferson?

Separate salary cap? Do like the NBA does with set "Max contracts"?

Maybe I exaggerate, but it’s definitely a passing league, not a running one. RBs can hold out, it there’s only so much to go around. $10 mil a year? What are you (the player) bitching about?
I dunno how to fix the system, but as long as the points and fun are elsewhere that s where the money goes

Catt,
don't draft Hines.
Stranger, you should totally draft him. Sounds like he's going to have a breakout season!

These contracts are complicated enough that I'm glad people can explain them to us. I thought he had a small win before reading that

ESPN had an article up yesterday agreeing that he basically fucked the whole RB market.
Troy's team has unsurprisingly named Young their starter.

Sean Payton unloading on Hackett.
Those are some big ass swings. You never see coaches taking shots like that and Sean Payton is on the top shelf of coaches, which means the job Hackett did was probably way worse than we really can imagine or understand.

Cook to the Jets?
Nobody is talking about it, but Robert Saleh has a ton of pressure to win based upon how much money has been spent to construct this team. Anything less than the playoffs and he's getting fired. That probably includes a first round loss.
