Jeez, this steam sale is killing me. I've bought a ton of games. Most of them have been under 3-4 bucks, but still. I don't even know what to play.

Either the Steam holiday sale or just this specific one ends in a little over an hour (it's 10:47 a.m. EST), but here's what's available at the moment:
GTA IV - $7.49
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - $2.00
BioShock - $4.99
Defense Grid - $2.49
Torchlight - $4.99
Left4Dead 2 - $33.49

All highly rated and recommended games.

Killing Floor is also $4.99. It's a co-op survival horror. I want to do some quick research on this one, but I might buy it.

Also...
Borderlands - $33.49
The Witcher - $13.59

I bought a bunch of pirate and naval games (after watching Master and Commander in Blue Ray)

Also, King's Bounty, and a few Star Wars games, including KOTOR.

I bought about 8 games total during their holiday sales.

Steam and Amazon have completely changed the way I buy games and movies.

I can't walk through a retail store anymore without thinking "I can find it cheaper online."

My total sale purchases are about 15 games. Some came in a bundle and won't be played. I fired up Red Faction II and it's way outdated. It came out in 2003, but looks more like 1999. It's like Duke Nuk'em got a slight face lift. But still, close to 20 new games in my library. Good ones are:

Torchlight
KotOR
Fallout 3 and all expansions
Titan Quest w/ Expansion
Borderlands
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Dawn of War II
Company of Heros (at least I think it's a good one based on reading. Have not played.)

Currently playing KotOR and Borderlands. Soon to start Titan Quest. Torchlight might be my on the road laptop game.

I still like to play Forged Alliance. I want to play DoWII. I never finished HL:Ep1, 2 or Lost Coast. Or Portal. I never even installed Far Cry 2. Wanted to play Call of Duty 4.

Then there were console games I wanted to play (Ace Combat games and more Halo). Not to mention really old games I played as a kid that I never finished (The entire Wizardry collection).

Life is just too short.

I bought a lot of games. Several are games I already own, but with prices in the $5 or less range I might as well buy 'em on Steam, too, so I don't have to dig out the disks to play 'em. That and achievements are fun.

Say, anyone here know if you can delete a game from your Steam account? I've got a couple that are so awful I never played them past a few minutes and never will again, and it would be nice to remove them from the clutter permenantly. I emailed a question to Valve but they've never responded.

It's a date. But, I'll have to learn them first. I'll be doing DoW2 first. My son plays as well, so, maybe we'll team up against you while we're still newbs.

How good is CoH?

If anyone hasn't played this game, do it.

It's massively fun.

Which version of COH is the best? I have all three, which should I be playing?

I actually don't have Tales of Valor.

Opposing fronts is really fun though.

Playing on hard is tough, especially if the maps starts off with three different locations in need of micro attention, it's easy to get overwhelmed.

Lord, going through this game on hard player through can sometimes be aggravating.

Especially when you finally figure out a strat for a mission, and the game decides to freeze on you. FUCK!

I fired up CoH for the first time this weekend. Not too bad. Still learning the units and stuff. Can beat the easy enemy regularly. Have a ways to go for the harder stuff I'm guessing. Will be a bunch more games before I'm any kind of challenge for you I'm sure. I'd do co-op if the game supports it though.

Titan Quest: Gold Edition (includes the expansion pack) on sale this week for $4.99.

So it's just like Torchlight?

Same game play, very different graphics. Much more like NWN. If you are enjoying torchlight for the game play, then you'll like Titan Quest as well. I'm running through it with 5 other people and it's fun as a group. It ramps up difficulty as you add players, which is good.

You can play through it 3 times with the same character so you can keep leveling up and getting stronger, etc. Normal, Epic and Extreme are the levels of difficulty. You unlock the next one by finishing the one before it.

Well worth the $5.

Oh, for more comparison, there's like 10 different character classes you can choose from. At level 8 or so, you can pick up a second class. So, you can be a hybrid fighter/mage or something if you wanted to. Each class has skill points you spend for special attacks or spells and stuff. Each ability has different levels, meaning, you can put more skill points into one special attack to make it stronger and stronger. So, it's similar to Torchlight, but, different. Ummmmm. Those are the highlights. The game play is the same though. W key switches between equipment load outs. Hold shift to attack without moving. 1-0 are hot keys. TONS of magic item variations.

That's all I can think of right now.
