I would play any of the above games, including Path of Exile. In fact, the only ones I don't own, but would/will get are Far Cry 6 and Monster Hunter World.

But I will say that I want story and/or goals. Deathmatch stuff has zero appeal for me...except for MW:O...

Based on a brief discussion after Halo tonight, the best pre-sale option is The Forest. We all own it and are interested in it. Payday and L4D are on the list, but Stranger doesn't care for Payday, and we've done L4D. So The Forest would be new(ish). Troy, have you played through it? Steam says you only play 2.5 hours, so I'm guessing you didn't.

While in Troy's profile, I saw Don't Starve. That could be a good one too.

Loaded The Forest onto the new PC just now. I'll give it a look before Friday to familiarize myself with the controls and commands.

FYI, we have not beaten L4D2 or the Payday games. I remember someone...Gordon? Stranger?...wanting to just jump to Payday 2, and if that gets it into the rotation, I'm down.

GTFO is also a co-op option with great reviews, but I believe it's another tough game to beat.

Cake asked what my top votes were last night and I responded with Dying Light and Dead Island. Dead Island goes under $5 during sales, and is a fun game with a great theme song that is still in my phone's playlist. Dying Light is $40, which I know will be a barrier to entry for some, but it's simply great. 180K Steam reviews and it's still at "Overwhelmingly positive". Dying Light 2 will be one of the rare games I buy on day 1 to show love to the company.

My vote would be for either the Forest or Dying light. Didn't really care for Payday and L4D that much.

Forest was cool for the short time we played it even though i'm not the biggest fan of the survival games in general. I'd also be down with Don't Starve, its a different take on the survival genre and i see they keep updating the game so its probably much better than it was.

But Dying Light does look pretty sweet, $40 doesnt.. Wonder if that game ever goes on sale?

The next sale is in 51 days.

I think we're pretty set on The Forest being the next game. Friday 9 p.m.

I'm going to jump into it this week to refresh my memory. I know we want to have a plan to actually beat the game this time rather than just build a base and fight the AI.

Dying Light is $13.49 on Humble Bundle right now.

Can save an additional 2.72 if you have Humble Choice.

Honestly i'd rather play this than the Forest, i'd be willing to buy it.

I see they have Dying Light: The following- Enhanced edition for $17.99 too. Not sure what all comes with that or if its even worth it but thats not bad either.

I will get Dying Light installed on the new PC too.

Someone pick a game by Thursday though, so I can refresh myself prior to Friday.

Descriptions of it say it's almost as big as the main game. Reviews are positive.

You do need the base game to play it.

I'm probably going to get it.

Yeah, Valve's rules here are a fucking mess. I see Hentai, BDSM, alphabet, straight, etc. games that are all sex themed and even have pictures of naked body parts in their Steam store pages, but I guess because it is animated, it isn't porn?

Valve is a manager-less workplace, not sure if everyone knows that. It is often cited as a great example that such places can work and thrive. However, I would counter that argument by pointing out how often Valve lacks direction, and their success is actually despite the manager-less workplace.

I mean...
-The absolute abandonment of Half-Life/Portal, which was printing money and had garnered Valve their audience. Pushing Team Fortress aside counts here too.
-Putting so much money and effort into DOTA2 (Currently, the 8th most popular online game, but with only 5 million players. 22 million behind LoL.)
-Valve's terrible controller.
-Valve's great, but crazy expensive VR headset.
-Steam Link (cool, but they didn't sell a ton)
-Big Picture mode
-The time and money spent on the Steam console.
-Valve's inability to do anything to counter Epic's attacks aside from maintain course.
-Some of the horribly conceived sales, including one that obliterated their Steam ranking system that pissed off tons of customers and permanently destroyed a source of revenue. Additionally, their response and inability to see the damage done was quite telling.

The folks at Valve deserve tons of praise for their achievements and things they've done for the industry, but they are desperately in need of some guidance.
