I mean, what would they even get for him? Better him than the garbage available right now.

Watson also eliminated the Panthers.
So we're down to Saints/Falcons. I have no idea why he'd go to the Falcons, that team is a mess.
I think it'll be the Saints.
So...Winston or Taysom to the Browns?

I was just texted "Watson to the Browns". I do not see it reported anywhere yet though.

If I were him, I'd prefer Browns or Saints. Probably Browns. $40M/year? damn.

Bleacher Report just texted the news out.
5 total picks. 3 first rounders.
I guess Cleveland is heading to full on "win now" mode.

John Clayton died.
Way too early. This guy was the "go to" for so many years when it came to NFL news. He will be missed.
This was awesome

Browns already working to rebuild their draft capital: cleveland.com: Browns trade Case Keenum to the Bills for a 7th-round pick.

Sure hope they need a punter or something

Browns say they did "extensive inquiry" into Watson.
I call bullshit. Not picking on the Browns here, but I think it was more like, "If we don't replace this fucking idiot Baker you and I (GM and coach) are going to be fired. Let's go big."

Ehh.. I'm not so sure about that..
I'm pretty sure you don't give the biggest guaranteed contract in NFL history to a guy with 22 civil suits against him without the owner having a big say it. Especially after they were already spurned a few days earlier.
This just doesn't seem like the conservative, analytical "tough, smart and accountable" mantra the front office has been preaching since day one type of move.
Jimmy Haslem is Jerry Jones clone, he loves to meddle and inject himself into big decisions like this one.

I have no doubt Haslam gave his blessing.
Browns pissed off a lot of folks by grabbing Watson.
Based on some of the Twitter threads I have seen (I follow the AFC North) Cleveland fans are extremely divided over this trade. Comment that made me chuckle: "You can easily remember how much money Cleveland gave Deshaun by just multiplying his accusers by $10M and then adding an additional $10M."
FYI: Watson's defense attorney was on the Twitters this weekend and said Cleveland never contacted him. They also apparently haven't contacted any of the 22 women. So, uh, who did they talk to in this "extensive investigation"?
I sit in a unique position here because my team had an accused sex offender QB that Browns fans used to mock and claim the moral high ground, so that's fun. Although BB only had two accusers and one was proven to be a complete fabrication. The other was shady enough though that it stuck with him forever. There's zero doubting the Browns have sold their soul to win a SB.
The Browns deal for Watson has also pissed off other NFL teams.
I know Stranger will think I'm picking on his team here, but I swear I'm not. I applaud the Browns for doing what they think they need to do to win. The Rams just sold away years of their immediate future to win a SB and it paid off. I hope for Stranger and my BIL it does pay off and they get to enjoy a long awaited SB win, if not appearance.
That being said, I get why other teams are pissed. Watson's resume certainly isn't anywhere near other top QBs in the league, yet he is guaranteed more money than any other player in history. Meanwhile, he hasn't played in a year, went 4-12 in his last season played, and faces suspension from the league. If this doesn't work out...
In related news, I was looking at a roster comparison for the AFC West teams, which might be the best division in NFL history on paper, and chuckled thinking, "The Browns have gone all in to be relevant right when the AFC might be the strongest a conference has ever been." If they win now, it was earned.
In other news,
the Atlantic has a big piece on what Meyer was like in Jacksonville. It does not paint a pretty picture.
Going to the NFL, whose product he didn't even know about was a gigantic mistake for a gigantic ego. He had a cushy job as a studio analyst and people respected him. Now he's toxic, no college or pro team would touch him (except Bama), and no network would want him either. I highly doubt OSU will bring him back to be Asst AD now as well.

By the way, the Watson trade is easily the most interesting thing to happen in the NFL offseason that had included Rodgers getting paid, Flores suing the NFL, and Wilson being traded.

Oh yeah, its been very controversial. Most people are happy we got a really good QB for once, but at what price? I promise you he doesn't get the hero's welcome like they did when Hue Jackson walked into the building

This is absolutely wrong, i saw this Blitzburgh tweet myself.. They did in fact talk to Watson's attorney, He's the same guy who represented good ole Jimmy in his Pilot Flying J scandal! Might be some of the reason why Watson came to Cleveland???... What they didn't do was talk to the attorney who represents the 22 women. But neither did any of the other teams looking into Watson's services. So to say anyone did any "extensive investigation" is purely lip service.

Yep, but this was universally applauded by all the NFL players as this will set the precedent going forward. It's basically an NBA type contract and if you ask me, NFL players deserve more than those guys.
I also heard the the team most pissed about this.. the Ravens.. They have a certain guy at QB that is due a contract and him and his momma agent are going to want something similar.. I wouldn't be surprised if Baltimore balks at something like that, he can't throw the football in a league thats all about throwing a football.

Nah i don't think that. It is weird for every Browns fan too. He we are, you would think that after just giving out the biggest guarnteed contract in NFL history.. to a QB at that! that we would be elated. But you can't help but feel a little dirty right now.
One thing i will say.. I don't think the 3 1st rounders is that big of a loss. For one, the Browns were able to keep everyone on their roster, they didn't make their team weaker in any way. This year they only gave up the first rounder, they still have a second, 2-3rds and 2-4ths they can easily budle things and get back into the first this year if they wish. It is much like the Rams build, who if you didn't already know hasn't had a 1st round draft pick in the last 5 drafts.
