I think there was supposed to be a press conference this week but been a little busy.

If you go by the text messages that were released, he killed Charlie Kirk because he was "spreading hate"

Sounds like he has a trans girlfriend too, which Fox is running with, but it didn't seem like the partner was super political or a part of all of it.
I still haven't heard a motive, or a place he was supposedly "radicalized." They are looking at it from a gaming/discord angle too but the people on the sever didn't' seem aware of what he was up to. I think both of them had Reddit accounts which are getting searched too.

The scarier thought is that the young man who realized he was... whatever he was sexually, fell in love with his boy/girl friend, and then completely lost it trying to do something for his lover.

Another little cathartic rant I've been working on and off all day. Sorry, this incident really hit me negatively. I think we're at a pretty big fork in the road and it'll be interesting to see which path we choose as a nation. I'm praying for the one where we're allowed to discuss our differences and find compromise. The other road is bloody AF.

True story:
-Last night at golf, I listened to a far right friend go on and on about how there's some vast government conspiracy potentially at play here, and how the text messages between the shooter and his TGF were too mature and "correct" to be written by a 22 yo.
-This morning before leaving for work, my far left wife was going on and on about how there's some vast right wing conspiracy at play here, and how the text messages between the shooter and his TGF were too mature and "correct" to be written by a 22 yo.

("Potentially" intentionally omitted in the second one as she 100% believes it.)

Most people have no idea how conditioned they are, how they're in echo chambers, and they're too arrogant and stubborn to even consider the possibility. Everyone has some level of Main Character Syndrome and thinks they're immune and way too smart, but the world is full of thousands of cults for a reason.

Even folks who are not as susceptible can still fall prey to marketing/propaganda because who has the time to research everything?

And don't get me started on the lack of critical thinking that's rampant throughout our world.

I don't understand the FOX comment. As you know, I go to CNN almost exclusively and that factor is mentioned in almost every story about this incident.

He moved in with said TGF, and per his family moved far left politically pretty quickly. To be fair, I think they're far right, so who knows what that means, but moving in with your TGF would seem to be pretty far left.

I have seen where the TGF was very "anti-Christian and anti-conservative", which does track with a 22 yo transitioning from man to woman (and also gay). Reddit accounts would also track with the "anti-Christian and anti-conservative" theme.

No idea about Discord, but I think I'd dispute that. Discord is gamers, which is mostly young men, and they skew right (and that right lean is increasing per all recent studies). Granted he could have been in a pocket of left gamers, but I'm sure the feds will dig that up.

Yep, he clearly is a mental disturbed person. On top of that, he grew up in a far right household, and I'd imagine strict (at least strict-ish) parents. From there, and this is all obviously speculative, he embraced a life that was opposite of his parents' values as young people tend to do. Was it simple rebellion? Was it because he was gay and couldn't be himself with them? Who knows?

Then, thanks to influences from his TGF, Reddit, and probably other places, he developed a hatred and obsession for Charlie Kirk. And make no mistake, that hatred was created from propaganda and bigotry.

One thing Charlie's death exposed was how twisted his words were by the left, and this is NOT an attack on the left. This happens both ways (and even non-right and left ways) and we've all fallen for it. When you talk publicly as much as Charlie did, particularly when debating, it's extremely easy to take something they say out of context and pretend it's their message. There are Kirk quotes in this very thread taken out of context. One could make the Pope anti-Catholic using his own words without a problem.

And this isn't even counting what can be done with AI...

Charlie Kirk welcomed open dialogue with anyone. He gave them an open mic and let them present their entire argument. He shut down crowds who would boo, cat call, and otherwise disrupt the people willing to debate him. He would wish every single person well, compliment them for having the courage to speak, and would NOT condemn them. He wasn't racist or full of hate for LGBQT+ people. There's a great video of him politely, yet quickly dismissing a guy who was criticizing him for even having a dialogue with trans or gay people. Meanwhile, X has been full of people, yes even black ones which hits bit harder, proving Charlie wasn't racist by showing the full context of his most commonly cited "racist" statements. (I'll post some here if anyone doubts these claims.)

Kirk was killed because a mentally ill person trying to find their place in the world away from their family got influenced by friends, social media, and quotes/clips taken completely out of context or selectively edited to present a false narrative of what Kirk was about. If anyone doesn't understand why this was a terrible moment for our country, left/right/middle, I really feel for their ignorance because this was bad for all involved.

Who? What's the context? I'm sure it's happened if you say so, but having continuous nationwide tours to openly debate whomever wants to step to the mic screams "welcomes open dialogue", does it not? What more does one need to do if that isn't welcoming open dialogue?

I was not an avid Kirk follower. Like all of us, I typically only ever got exposed to clips, but the only person I ever saw him blow off was Dean Withers. However, they have debated, and the time Charlie blew him off was because Dean tried an ambush thing at a college event. (Dean has tearfully and strongly condemned Kirk's murder.)

As for the gays thing, his religion prevented him from accepting gay marriage. You and I can think that's silly, but is that hate or simply a learned behavior? Conditioning can be very difficult to overcome. Many (most?) never do, but I do wonder if he would have gotten there. Many of the people he debates are screened. It's not always an open mic thing. There were others than Dean.
