Yes!

Just watched that one, and remember the TNG one, including the callback. I.kept wanting to tell Will that the chick's name should be Minuette.Leisher wrote: Once again, ST did it first, but Orville did it better. Although, on this one I'd be willing to call it a tie because while the concept was the same, the angles taken were different. That ST:TNG episode was pretty awesome and was called back to in a later episode that saved the Enterprise.

All I have is the last episode left.
This season didn't fuck around with filler episodes. Nearly every one was pushing a story forward.
I think the "Union" is in trouble.
I also think Bortis's race of gays is Seth MacFarlane's analogue for Republicans. Super intolerant and "not at all aligned with our core beliefs."

That's interesting, but not sure I agree.
If you've kept up with Family Guy over the years Seth's politics have definitely shifted. Brian used to be his voice, but at one point the show completely shifted and started calling him on his hypocrisy and bullshit. He was also open minded enough to have Rush Limbaugh guest star on an episode and didn't bash him as he would have years prior. I could be completely wrong, but I think he's moved more towards the middle. He now seems to take shots at both sides equally.
Although, that doesn't mean your thought is wrong. He certainly has portrayed them as a species that is ridiculously conservative, but not all of them are like that and if you look closely, they do evolve. It's just that their conservative side is really vocal and in power.

Hello, Plex, and a couple missed viewers for the Neilson ratings.

Speaking of, make sure "Picard" gets cued up. CBS All Access only, IIRC.

This actually is probably good news.
First of all, they weren't doing awesome in the ratings and were stuck on Fridays on FOX. Friday is the kiss of death for shows.
Second, production budgets might be increasing:
Third, moving to Hulu, which is now Disney's R rated service means they might be able to stretch content farther than a network would allow.MacFarlane noted that the show has “has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise,” leading to the production delay.
We'll have to see how it plays out, but this could be a sign that Disney is willing to get behind the show. If they see this as their opportunity to make their own Star Trek and merchandise it...

Also means no Orville until Fall 2020
"But as the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So, we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show. It’s exactly this kind of willingness to accommodate a show’s creative needs that’s made me want to stick around for so long. I am hugely indebted to Charlie Collier and Fox Entertainment for their generosity and look forward to developing future projects there. And to my new friends at Hulu, I look forward to our new partnership exploring the galaxy together."
The show's move arrives as MacFarlane's overall deal with now Disney-owned 20th Century Fox TV expired last month. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that many, if not all, the major media companies have been pursuing what will likely be a monster nine-figure overall deal with MacFarlane, who created the multibillion-dollar Family Guy franchise.

I'm actually warming up to the "it'll be ready when its ready" schedule of content delivery. It's not like we don't have other things to watch or do in the meantime. It also means ideas aren't being rushed or just used because of a deadline.
Plus, I'm really hopeful the show can get a touch more edgy. I don't need a porn in space (actually, maybe I do...) or tons of cursing, but they could definitely take it all up a notch while still maintaining the show's humor and heart.
This whole thing might also be a signal that Disney is making a big push to keep MacFarlane in house. "Multibillion-dollar Family Guy franchise" is hilarious when you remember FOX executives canceled it twice.

I like the idea of a show being as long or short as ot needs to be for a narrative, and not fitting a 22 or 44.minute slot. But people haven't done much with that yet. MacFarlane said on Twitter that he would

Some shows have taken 12-18 months between seasons in a "ready when it's ready" strategy, then I can't remember the damned story each season when it takes a decade to get 6 seasons out. Take too long, and the world changes and you lose your momentum.
Battlestar Galactica did this.
So did Venture Brothers... Looking at season 7 (?) After i watched season 1 15 (?)years ago.
Hopefully Rick and Morty don't suffer.

VB used to be the shit. Then they literally took 2 years between seasons... and culture's tastes change a lot in a decade. R&M didn't exist in VB S1... but now it's all about R&M.
For now. Having that 7 season deal SHOULD help the R&M release schedule.
