You know, I can only show you example after example after example. I can't force anyone to see it, or understand it. I really have no response when someone says "I haven't seen it" and it's has been illustrated here time and again.
I realize some of you live in a liberal bubble, and are mainly surrounded by liberals all agreeing with each others' perceptions of liberal, happyland, bong-hazed reality. That's fine. But it can be a little agravating when your conginitive dissonance extends here, where every day we attempt to highlight the reality of certain situations.
Facts get answered with, "Well that's just your opinion," and the sarcastic "if you think it then I guess it must be true." No, not really. Facts are facts, your perception is not reality, and the basic reality is that some very intelligent people think the real evil is not letting the homeless starve, but is in enabling a person to remain useless and worthless, and using a gigantic, bloated, inefficient, self serving system to do it in, taking money from the people who worked for it at gunpoint, and keeping people stupid and uneducated and on the dole is the best way to get the votes.
There's usually several bits of evidence presented every day on this forum that supports that theory.
But I know, that's not your opinion, and none of you have seen that.
"Tell me what you want to tax me for, and maybe I'll buy it myself, instead."
"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for life."
Very old, reliable, proven wisdom gets chucked out the window in favor of feel-good, it-does-damage-but-who-cares-it-gets-us-votes-so-tax-the-rich-mentality. Most people learn in grade school that this type of simple thinking is not valid. Most (well, half?) of people in grade school learn that there are consequences for actions. Most (half) of children know that if you hit someone in school you get paddled for it, and by extension if you pay someone money to be unemployed and pumping out babies and living in taxpayer subsidized housing, they'll remain unemployed and pumping out babies and living in taxpayer subsidized housing. There is direct evidence that this is usually the outcome of perpetual welfare. How this confuses some people amazes me. How some people can know this but use the system for their own personal gain amazes me.
Some people say, "It's a crime how this country treats their poor." And know what? Both sides say that, for different reasons. I just happen to think the crime is in encouraging and rewarding them to remain poor.
And it is no longer a classic Republican/Democrat thing. The Republicans have gotten themselves a ruling majority, and now they're starting to act like it. The entire system is fucked, so you should try and not to be, too. We slam Bush on a lot of things around here, but unfortunately "Well I didn't see it" comes into play, and perception becomes "You all worship Bush like god."
Start paying attention.
Rita Predictions.
