If he's serious about getting that $600 kit from Newegg, he can do better on the pricing.
Microcenter has that MB and CPU for a total of $286.78 after tax and rebate. Newegg's price is $315.04, after you apply the $44.94 savings and rebate.
He can then buy the rest of the stuff from Newegg and leave out the $5 power cord!
The savings comes from Microcenters normally much lower price on CPUs than Newegg, plus, they give you $50 off a motherboard, in store, no rebate.
