Miami's allegations hit.

The actual Yahoo story detailing everything.

Fucking holy shit...

WSGrundy, I feel for you. As I'm sure Catt does too with what's going on in NC.

If nobody at the school knew, and let's be honest, a lot of these boosters do this shit on their own, then how can Miami or any school be expected to control these guys throwing cash and women around to kids who aren't exactly rich.

However, if all of this guy's allegations are proven true...this is going to get ugly for a lot of folks.

First, I think the NCAA should do the fair thing and nail every coach involved no matter what school they're at now. For example, just because that basketball coach is now at Missouri doesn't mean he shouldn't get punished if he was involved.

Second, the 10 athletic department employees is the dagger. Once Miami gets the evidence, and if it fits this asshole's story, they need to clean house in a big way to get out ahead of the NCAA and avoid what will surely be massive penalties. Do what OSU and USC failed to do and be proactive. Fire the employees immediately, have the AD step down, make major changes to the compliance department (or institute one), and suspend or boot players depending on their crimes. I'd also go the OSU route and abandon wins and give back bowl money. I'd also self-impose a post-season ban for at least two seasons.

Third, this could seriously affect the agents involved. The NFL could revoke their licenses.

Fourth, the NCAA has got to figure this out. Their rules are out of date, but the "pay the players" rhetoric will do more damage than good, especially to every school's other sports and students. I mean if they go that route, why even offer scholarships? Just call college the minor leagues and don't even let these players associate with the student body.

These scandals don't even touch the other bullshit with teams switching conferences and the whole BCS thing.

College football is a mess.

Can anyone explain why Donna Shalala still has a job? Don't even need to give her time to resign.

Fire Shalala, fire the A.D., fire anyone involved with the football or basketball team and isn't a new hire this year.

Missouri probably needs to think about firing Haith too.

Plus what is the SEC doing if they were still able to steal recruits from Miami with all of this going on?

Plus Miami should have know you can't continue to go to title games or be good with Coker as your coach and not be suspected of cheating.

A new NCAA rule should be if you go to 2 title games in a 5 year period then there should be an automatic investigation from the NCAA or newspapers.

If you go to 3 title games in a 10 year period you need to automatically be put on probation because you are cheating.

Professor resigns from UNC. Professor who was head of the department, and who had a decent # of athletes as students.
In Thursday's announcement, Thorp said UNC officials have been looking at “possible irregularities with courses that included undergraduate students" in Nyang’oro’s department.

Nyang'oro's students included one of McAdoo's teammates, Marvin Austin. According to a transcript published by The News & Observer. Austin earned a B+ in the 400-level class in African-American studies as a freshman, despite SAT scores that indicated he was a poor reader. Nyang'oro would have had to give his consent to allow Austin into the class.

Lou Holtz calls Mark May an idiot.

That's my favorite moment of the college season so far. I fucking hate Mark May because he HATES OSU, and cannot even remotely hide it. I have never heard him pick them to win a single big game. When they win, he makes excuses for the other team. When they lose he trashes them. When they win huge, he finds things to destroy them for.

If you're wondering Mark May went to Pitt, and was on the team when OSU beat them 72-0.

Cam played well.

And apparently, Rex Grossman is now an elite quarterback.

My 2nd favorite stat of the day
Donovan McNabb had 39 yards passing for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

My favorite, obviously, is Redskins 1-0.

I had a terrible football weekend.

The Buckeyes looked like shit against Toledo in a slim win. Granted we're rebuilding, and on hold for sanctions and a new coach, plus Toledo is good this year, but still...

The Steelers got rolled in Baltimore. I'm not too concerned because this game mean a LOT more to Baltimore since we've owned their asses for the past few years, plus the 7 turnovers we had in the game, but still...

In my NCAA Football league I had 13 turnovers in 2 games, and lost both...ugh.

I'm afraid to go look at my fantasy score.

UNC won (barely, ugly - 5 turnovers), Redskins won(!), Wake Forest won (grew up rooting for them), Michigan State won (wife's team)... then the Panthers just couldn't get it done....

So 3 of my 4 teams won. And the Redskins schedule, based on yesterday's results from other teams, suddenly looks a lot less fierce: Cardinals, Cowboys, Rams, Eagles, Panthers, Bills, 49ers, Dolphins to get through 9. 6-3 through that and the playoffs are certainly a possibility (Jets/Patriots near the end, so that's 2 automatic losses).

Don't get too wrapped up in week 1 results. Lots of misleading things can happen in the first week of the NFL season. For example: Buffalo looked like world killers, but they'll finish 3rd in their division...maybe 4th.

So. Cam Newton certainly is a thing.

Let's see if we can develop a team around him.

Hey Leisher, maybe teach your new coach how to call a timeout?

ACC first to 14 teams.
“The ACC has enjoyed a rich tradition by balancing academics and athletics and the addition of Pitt and Syracuse further strengthens the ACC culture in this regard,” said Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford. “Pittsburgh and Syracuse also serve to enhance the ACC’s reach into the states of New York and Pennsylvania and geographically bridges our footprint between Maryland and Massachusetts. With the addition of Pitt and Syracuse, the ACC will cover virtually the entire Eastern Seaboard of the United States.”

I wouldn't bother. He'll be gone before bowl season.

He had his shot and blew it. Not by losing, but because his team has been completely unprepared for two consecutive weeks.

Yeah, I know yall are missing some players, and Miami is a pretty decent team but DAMN. That and Toldeo?

Redskins:
Grossman intercepted at Arizona's 6
Grossman intercepted at Arizona's 39
Get to Arizona's 3, and kick FG.
Touchdown!
Arizona 12 - blocked FG

A win's a win, but an that was painful. 4 red zones trips = 10 points.

The defense is fine, but they get tired when they play almost the whole game. And yes, the O is very young (literally almost all freshmen), but coaching is what is killing the team.

The Bucks still have Tressel's O coordinator, and I've hated that guy since day one. Very boring and predictable play calling.

Fickell is not preparing the kids for the games at all, and he refuses to go away from Bauserman because of the "gotta play the senior" mentality. I know Miller turned the ball over twice, but that's because he's young and green. He needs experience to learn not to force plays or over extend them. However, the offense looked completely different with him in the game. There was energy, excitement, and you felt any play could go for a big gain. With Bauserman in you wonder three things:
1. Will Hyde go up the middle?
2. If Hyde is out, will Rod Smith go outside? (Did you notice they actually do that? The poker equivalent is someone sscreaming "yes" when they get a good hand.)
3. How far will Bauserman over throw his receiver?
