Who's using one?

I like having a real book, but I am dragging books to various child functions and every other parent has a kindle and I am beginning to feel like the poor cousin at the family reunion.

Do they give you a digital copy yet when you buy a hardback on amazon?

Not that I am aware of, digital is separate.

I was talking to a co-worker about this the other day, and recommended the iPad, just in the sense that is can do the Kindle and B&N eBooks, and also a million other things.

Or wait for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, or whatever they're calling it for an Android tablet.

If you're only going to use it for reading, go Kindle. It's easier to read, especially in bright light, and you won't flip pages by a mistaken touch. It's also smaller, and easier to handle. Plus the battery lasts a looooooong time.

However, devices like the iPad bring a lot more to the table, but aren't as good for reading. I use my iPad most often for Netflix. I can't tell you how great it is for kids at restaurants. Once they get fidgety, turn on the iPad2 and put on a video. Of course, the iPad battery lasts a long time too, but not even remotely as long as the Kindle. Plus, once you get the videos going other people might hijack your device...or for the games...web surfing, etc. The kindle would be YOUR device.

I am going kindle. I just like the e ink better and library books will become available near the end of the summer. Nook can already do that though.
