Actually, I shoveled last night. I was out there for 20 minutes doing a 2 car driveway, the entire sidewalk from neighbor to neighbor, the sidewalk around the side of the house to the garage cans, and the sidewalk to the front door.

Loved every minute of it. It wasn't too cold, and the snow was all powder. I could have used a broom. 20 minutes listening to a podcast, getting exercise, and not being annoyed by kids or a wife.

One of my neighbors actually was using a broom.

Asking a Southerner to drive safely on ice and snow is like asking someone from New York city to safely fire a rifle. Sure you'll find some rational ones that can handle it well, but most of them will just FREAK THE FUCK OUT on general principle at the basic idea and it's all downhill from there.

It's not uncommon for us to shovel a path to the car doors and the sidewalk from the driveway to the house. Which only takes a few minutes, of course. We don't have sidewalks out by the road.

And who visits you? Didn't you build a fence to keep people out? ;-)

You expected wrong. BURN.

Anyway, I just took my little electric car out in the first snow of the winter, to see how it handles.

It's shit. The light little car spins the tires in just a dusting, and I had to drive 10 under the speed limit in order to be safe/keep the traction control from kicking in.

In the past, I used to claim that people with cars who can't handle the conditions should stay off the roads, in inclement weather, Now that I've tried it myself, I haven't changed my mind. In the future, I now know how bad the roads need to be in order to drive my heavier truck. All the other fuckers in the small, inadequate cars need to stay off the fucking roads, and out of the way.

My wife's newer model Town and Country (2015?) is shit in the snow compared to her 2005 Town and Country. Her sister also drove older and now a new model and she says the same thing. No idea what changed.

I haven't driven my Focus in the snow yet. My Dodge Avenger wasn't terrible, but wasn't great.

My Highlander did pretty well in 6" of storm the other day despite being only front wheel drive. We made it through 15 miles of varying levels of plowed roads (non scraped clean, cuz it's NC and we don't plow well). It has a snow mode to keep the tires from spinning.
It's not me, it's someone else.
