I think he may just want a press release saying that rather than the annoyance of actually doing it. This pretty much outright kills their claim to being the "free speech" party if it gets close to reality.

I think this event is a litmus test. The people who don't know the facts less than 24 hours after it happened, and are spewing this "It's Palin's/Tea Baggers's/right-wing-rhetoric's" fault.... are the extremists. Nobody ever claims or admits to being an extremist, but these people are. Admitting that shit is the first step to fixing it.

There are a lot of fucking leftie extremists on the net.

This crap is all over my facebook.

Apparently all my leftie friends have all the time in the world to facebook, cuz I rarely see conservative political opinion on it.

I was tempted to put what I wrote above on Facebook.

But honestly.... there are too many people in my friend list who would be horribly offended and it would cause a huge shitstorm.

If there's one thing I have learned in the last 10 years, it is to never underestimate a democrat's ability to get offended.

So I'll just keep my mouth shut.

edit - I am going to post the Slate link though, since I saw Catt do it. Maybe since it is from a leftie rag it will make the lefties in my friend list think instead of just get offended.

Yahoo is running a picture of the 9 year old on its front page today. I hate that shit. No disrespect to that little girl at all, but it always makes me think the media outlet doing that is using her for their own gain. Put her picture in the story, not on your front page. Plus, it's depressing to see a kid who died at the hands of some nutjob. I'll avoid Yahoo for the rest of the day just because of that picture.

On a different note, did you see when she was born? 9/11/2001

Poor kid.

Hey, maybe there is something to all this "angry rhetoric" coming from the right.

I really can't discuss politics on facebook, since half of my family is on it. The second "I am disappointed in you" message I got, I decided it isn't worth it.

"Angry political rhetoric" doesn't get my panties in a bunch in spite of how the left is using it as a tool today.

But fuck it... what's a little less free expression? You know this means we can't burn political leaders in effigy any more, right?
Guess I am a facist. When I see something I think is this wrong I am going to say something.
To me there is a difference between burning effigys and the line I think she crossed. It was just wrong. Just like the bullet in Bushs head.
You are entitled to your thoughts. Im just not buying it because I think it is a load of whoee.

There is a difference between you having an opinion, and the government saying your opinion is illegal, and you'd better shut up about it.

Are you really on the side trying to restrict free speech? People in my facebook friend list are.

I don't understand how people think Palin crossed a line. And I can't stand Palin, but she doesn't deserve this attack. I must have missed the part where she was telling people to go shoot the Dems they couldn't defeat in the election.

And let's not forget every single Democrat, Republican, MSM member, and everyone else who used phrases like "targeting this seat" during the last elections. Are they all to blame too?

People need to calm down before responding to incidents like this one. One nut job shouldn't cause laws to be made for millions.

The truth here is that people are trying to use this tragedy to further their own political agenda. They are the scum of the Earth.

Comedy Gold
Clyburn called for the Transportation Security Administration, which administers airport security checkpoints, to interact “a little better” with the Capitol Hill Police.

“We’ve had some incidents where TSA authorities think that congresspeople should be treated like everybody else,” he said. “Well, the fact of the matter is, we are held to a higher standard in so many other areas, and I think we need to take a hard look at exactly how the TSA interact with members of Congress.”
