Family member had to restore their laptop and they have vista and I don't have any experience with it.
I can't get it online but I can see the networks and it says that I am connected with limited access.
I added the laptops MAC to my allowed list and the wifi light is lit up on the laptop itself.
I had to do this before and if I remember correctly it was something really simple but not having any experince with vista I didn't know about it.
I also don't think it has to do with drivers since it was a restore and I didn't need the drivers before.
When I figure it out this time I will make sure to write down what I did. Probably said that last time too.
Connected with Limited Access
Connected with limited access ussually means it's either not getting an IP address, or the router doesn't have a connection to the Internet.
What's the laptop's IP address? It should be something like 192.168.1.xxx.
Can other PCs get to the Internet?
If the laptop isn't getting an address, double check the mac address in the list. Make sure the laptop is set to Obtain address automatically.

Have you tried going to command line and doing "ipconfig /release all" followed by "ipconfig /renew all" and seeing what you get? Although not having used Vista I'm not sure if that applies ... or even if there is still such a thing as a command line, for that matter.
"ATTENTION: Customers browsing porn must hold magazines with both hands at all times!"
The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation.TPRJones wrote:Have you tried going to command line and doing "ipconfig /release all" followed by "ipconfig /renew all" and seeing what you get? That is what comes up after trying to release all.
Gordon wins!
I finally just started going through the programs list and found a third firewall that didn't have an icon on the wallpaper and it has a big button on the screen when you open it up that says "restart internet traffic" and so I hit it and everything worked.
I looked at the windows firewall and another one that had an desktop short cut but never saw the third.
You win the same love and adulation that we all get from the uninformed PC user after we fix their PCs for them.
