Program:C:\ProgramFiles\InternetExplorer\iexplore.exe a buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

First, reboot.

Then tell me what you were doing at the time and how long your PC has been running?

Nope rebooting does not help. I did a chkdsk and straightened up a bunch of errors and such, then defragged it worked yesterday but gave me the error again today. Not a vital computer, just aggravating

Sounds like you got a bug on there.

Know how to run hijackthis? or do you have malwarebytes anti-malware installed?

If not, you might have to wait for your IT department to come home. If you can't wait I can fix it, but I'm booked tonight.

I'm sure it's nothing your boy can't handle when he gets home. Tell him to call me if he needs support.

I actually tried that worked until the next day. Has to be a lingering virus or something.

Some possibilities according to this reasonably helpful thread at MS support forums: a bad toolbar plug-in, or spyware.

I cannot stand those fucking toolbars from google, yahoo, msn, etc.

If a computer I'm working on has one installed, it gets removed.

When I looked at threads regarding this issue, I saw Vundo mentioned. That's a nasty virus. You can use malwarebytes anti-malware to remove it. Hopefully, you don't have it and it is just a toolbar causing the issue.

MD, to remove a toolbar, go into Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, find all the toolbars and remove them all. They'll be listed as "yahoo toolbar", "google toolbar", etc.

This may or may not work to render IE stuff in FF.

It gets to a point where I usually say "Just reload the system, it is time for that anyway." Then MD can NEVER find the original install disks.

It is very frustrating.

I have a semi-new laptop of hers in my closet at home with that exact problem.

Does everything have to be legal?

Technically, the only thing she ever needs to hold onto is the keys for the OS and software she needs.

All the actual software and drives can be found on the web.
