Goddamnit. Apparently not available in my area. I'd be willing to give anyone who's not Comcast or Qwest a shot.

And you REALLY need an alternative to mid-south Time Warner.

It's worse than that. Time Warner was taken over by Cumcastic

Comcast?

TW MidSouth was the worst, most incompetent company I have ever dealt with anywhere in the country.

Too bad TW and Comcast can't compete directly, huh. It would be terrible if they were forced to improve themselves with competition.

Yeah, Comcast. They came in and took a screwed up utility and were able to actually screw it up worse than it already was. Lots of people were getting double billed right after the take over and after calling to get it straightened out, customers were assured it was fixed and double billed again the next month. The dish networks were loving it because cable was losing customers by the assload.

I was just firing up my netbook to check that my new wireless bridge to my NAS wasn't leaving a security hole in my network (it's good) and noticed that there's 36 ATT U-verse wireless routers within connection range of my apartment.

They've made very good penetration here. Mainly because the only cable company available here is both more expensive and much more shitty than Time Warner (they have a kickback agreement with the complex for each customer, so Time Warner isn't welcome here).

Oh, and as to my prior RIP Leo Laporte comment, he's actually doing quite well indeed: http://twit.tv (I've been listening all day every day at work, and I still can't keep up with all his shows.)

I've heard nothing but good things about ATT U-Verse. I have now been in this house/state for almost 3 years. I guess it is time to move and the ability to purchase the services of ATT U-Verse will now be the number-one priority for where I move.

I love it. There was about two days of downtime issues when they were first rolling out and I was one of the earliest customers in my area. After Hurricane Ike it was about a week before they had us back on the network (four days of that was no power). Other than that I've had no issues at all. And I'm comfortable in the belief that if I did they'd take care of me quick.

Actually, I do have one problem: when I was robbed my set-top box was set to widescreen HDMI and had it zoomed in slightly. I was able with some difficulty to get it off HDMI and widescreen, but because the zoom function is only for HDMI output it seems to be stuck slightly zoomed in. If I go in the menu and switch to widescreen then back to 4:3 it fixes it for a couple of days. Mostly it doesn't bug me, so I haven't followed up on it yet. Eventually I'll either get another HDMI TV or call up ATT and get it fixed.

Oh, and their web remote feature sucks now, since they "upgraded" it to some fancy flash thing that runs like shit and is horribly designed. I still use it because it's still better than trying to do text input on my remote, but it does annoy the hell out of me.

Still, recording four shows at once makes it worth those problems.

I hate the fact that they came to Raleigh 8 months ago, but still isn't available where I live.

Still waiting for it to come here.

Hmm ... this may be why I won't be seeing it for a long, long time.

By the by, since we're harping about how some media go out of their way to point out affiliations of various sorts ...
A group of African-American real estate brokers wants the attorneys general of five states to investigate "a rash of explosions" involving AT&T's U-Verse service.

Why the fuck is that relevant?
