Be very cautious with emails right now. We had something odd happen this week as two different people got infected opening an infected attachment. That, by itself, isn't odd as most users are stupid.

What bugs me is that our anti-virus is up to date, but didn't grab it.

On top of that, both claim they got an email relating to a specific business dealing they were currently involved in. One ordered a motorcycle seat from France, and the email he opened was about his order in France. The other just booked a flight on Northwestern and got an email about his tickets.

Most likely just a coincidence, but you never know.

Not sure if it's limited to just Outlook. I just sent a warning email to my company and one of my users said her mother, who works elsewhere, sent her a similar warning from her IT department today. I had her send me the email and they had a user get hit with the same thing.

In that case an email from Northwest discussing the recent purchase of tickets. The attachment was a zip file. (stupid users)

Could be sticking attachments on legitimate outgoing emails, maybe? Maybe so that they don't get saved in Outlook's sent items with the attachment, so the sender may never know he/she was infected but keep sending things.

I wonder if it would be possible to get a virus onto the email gateway to do that sort of thing. That could get nasty quick.
