During my computer security class, I had the chance to read the introductory paper to Bit Tyrant. Some quick googling will find you the dl site.
Anyhoo, this is touted as a "strategic" torrenting client. Turns out that the standard BitTorrent protocol isn't the most efficient thing on the planet. This client aims to maximize your download efficiency. It does so by more carefully partitioning intelligently your machine's bandwidth. The idea is to exploit BitTorrent's "tit-for-tat" philosophy so that you only offer as much upload bandwidth as you need to max out your download speed.
What it means in general is a somewhat faster download time w\ no massive upswing in upload bandwidth. However, by default, any spare bandwidth you got is generally offered up unless you uncheck that particular box in the setup area.
Furthermore, the BitTyrant client provides a few analytical tools that techies might find interesting. It's certainly more detailed than the standard Azureus client. You can get a snapshot of the swarm you're dl'ing from, a tabbed interface, and a generally more in-depth look at things.
