Interesting.

I expect this to hit the states someday. The privacy battle in court should be interesting.

Just wait till the anonymous P2P networks start not sucking. Or till the next new technique or tool comes along.

Eh, I expect this will just spur more competition as providers willing to not buckle under pressure from the RIAA and MPAA will spring up to service the customers that don't want to put up with the censorship of their internet feed.

There's a whole lot of perfectly legal and legitimate file sharing going on. This is like refusing to sell cars because sometimes people use them to commit crimes.

Or banning guns because some people use them in crimes. That would never happen here; we have the 2nd Amendment!

Well, no one is "banning" this yet. It's not the government doing it, it's the service providers voluntarily doing it. That's different. It's like if Smith & Wesson were to decide to stop selling guns because some people use them in crimes.

Government's banning things is a whole other kettle of fish. And one of the main reasons that governments are evil.
